Subject: Another great weekend in New England

Hi folks!

I've been laying kind of low lately, but I've dropped into the library this morning to check my messages and figured while I was here I'd tell you that "What Have You Been Smokin'?" took advantage of the holiday weekend to get tuned up for the BBQ season and attend a NEBS/KCBS sanctioned event in Massacheusetts. We cooked and socialized with some great people and enjoyed ourselves tremendously. A great job both by NEBS and the event host, the Musketaquid Sportsmen's Club. A special thank-you to Dave and Nancy Peterson and Gerry Bouyea of "Petey's Crispy Critters", who not only offered us lodging but gave up their Sunday to give us the VIP tour of Boston.

14 teams turned out for the competition, including most of the big names in the Northeast. A big congratulations to UFO Social Club, who took home the Grand Champion trophy and not only scored a 180 in shoulder, but turned out an almost unheard-of overall score of 707. WOW! The Smoke Ring were hot on their heels, winning Reserve Grand.

Our little Canadian team once again fared pretty well, bringing home trophies for 1st place chicken, 3rd place ribs, and 2nd place in the Chef's Choice fish/seafood category, placing 3rd overall. A very good day for us.

I'll look forward to seeing most of you at Paris in a few weeks and over the summer.
