Earl, I have the weber chimney starter and it has gone through hell and back.
It has stayed glowing red for hours as we used it at the first three or fours comps we were at.
We lit it early evening and kept it glowing all night til the pig was done....no damage...
I payed $24.95 for it right here in Burlington and that wire handle doesn`t look like much but it sure is a safety feature when you are pouring out a full load of white hot coals..
