my son is dyslexic and I am a sp. ed teacher and now a school counselor. unfortunately the term dyslexic has been over used and diagnosed and others try to "use" it. This means those of use who truly need the services must jump through many hoops to prove we need the services. My son is a junior in high school and our local community college was very skeptical of my phone call and request for services. This means I have to go back to high school and request all his records to prove his dyslexia. Annnnddd the records need to be current......
So.... did your boyfriend receive assistance, help or diagnosis in elementary or high school? If you get school records showing he had help, that should work. What Texas school? They do have to provid you assistance but only what you request and can prove that you need.... you need to show that you needed "extra testing time" or "reading aloud assistance" or whatever accomodation helps... in high school. I hope this makes sense. Yes we do have to jump through hoops and plan way way in advance. It is awsome that he is in college and taking classes. Getting in to college was half the battle.
