I got my statement late in life and I wish i hadn't bothered. I have one degree and an advanced dip (60 cats of another degree). I went into the social care setting, but once I told them i had dyslexia my life was made hell. Government body as well. Suddently all skill development was stopped and i wasn't allowed to do my duties. Fellow workers were talking behind your back. Bullying from managers to the ground didn't want a dyslexic. This sort of bullying is a difficult one because their is no proof that it is happening. You know it's happening but cannot get any evidence. Eventually you mess up and they can fire you because life is made hell.
I have been told my a doctor i can't read or write which is totally wrong, but everyone believes a doctor while no one believes a dyslexic. I have been told by a nurse that a dyslexic can be only a care assistant or a hospital porter. Therefore basically a dyslexic statement may do far more damage than good, as it did for me.
