Every person in the Craftall family was a master at something. Carpentry, authorship, cooking, etc. etc. The list of things some twig in the family tree has mastered goes on for quite some time. Terronall Alember Craftall was a master forger. H had made a wondrous shield to aid Simrar in his quest.
The shield had a golden star in the centre. A faint yellowish light came off the points, and angled inward with an orangish color when it reflected off one of the five rubies embossed around the perfectly symmetrical circle. The orange light angled outward as well as inward, so it looked like orange lasors coming off the shield and all the seperate beams meeting a good two or three feet out from the shield's centre, while the steady, scarlet beams of light that emanated from the rubies--there were five of them, one for each point--continued onward into the air until stopped by a non-transparent source. You could see through the orange beams fairly well, though naturally everything you saw through it was orange, while the red beams stood unwavering, unable to see anything but a rough outling of shapes through its brilliant red gaze. Of course, one had to catch the shield at just the right angle to the sun to get the pillars of colored light. The straps to hold it on the arm were a fine, black leather, with a dagger hidden in a secret sheath on the part of the shield that you never seemed to see.
To describe the dagger as pretty would have been a gross understatement. Its hilt was wrapped in dark, fine, black silk, with an emerald pommel stone and radiant purplish stones on the other hilt points. It was double-bladed, with a steel blood channel and a fine Toledo blade. It had an icy tip sharp as fire, cold as a blizzard, and though made for only death, it was terribly beautiful.
