"Alright, then! Terrible, over here, you'll be fighting Eidal." I had thought things couldn't possibly get any worse, but it seems I had been wrong. Eidal was well known for his fighting skills, and here I was, drawn against him as soon as we had started. I gritted my teeth, holding my head up high. Phil always said that looking confident was sometimes enough to put your opponent off. I doubted it would have much effect on Eidal, but every little helps. I knew it was unwise to let him have the first move, so I lunged as quickly as possible, and it worked! I caught him off guard, and before I knew it, he had stumbled backwards, and was lying in the dirt.

"Excellent, Terrible!" bellowed the sergeant. That made it worse. I now had a reputation to defend.

Phil

I watched Terry on the battlefield, and I have to say I was mightily impressed! He did everything I had ever taught him, and it had paid off. I felt so proud of him, but I realised there was a downside to hid success too. Now everyone would expect him to win, and if he didn't, I knew he would feel awful. Eidal was an experienced fighter, and this would have simply made him more determined. I didn't hold out much hope for Terry'd chances of winning.
