Niesche said in The Gay Science "The whole of religion may appear to some distant age as an exercise and a prelude." He declares that God is dead, constructed by humans, and is the result of human need. I think Niesche arguments go a long way to support of views of athiests.
On your comment that Niesche's superman is a model for the third reich: It may have been misinterpreted by the Nazis as such but none of Niesches works advocate racism the basic premise of the Nazis. Niesche was a great supporter of the Jewish and quite anti-German. He once said once, "The Jews are beond all doubt the strongest, toughest, and purest race at present living in Europe." At another time he said," I have recently been overwhelmed with anti-semitic letters and pamphlets; my repugnance for this party (Nazi)(who would be only too pleased to avail itself of my name) is as pronounced as it possibly could be."
Setting any possible connection between Neische and Nazi Germany aside, I am quite sure the destruction and wars caused by religion specifically christianity far outweigh any caused by atheism.
