Subject: Sporting Biography

Hey guys, my name is Rachel and I am a double major in Psychology and Kinesiology. I was born in Potomac, MD and still live there. I have been involved in physical activity my whole life, but not necessarily sports. When I was in elementary school, I played soccer, basketball, softball and took gymnastics classes, but I had to stop those when I got more serious about dancing and figure skating in middle school. In high school I got even more serious about dance, so I focused mainly on that outside of school. I am on the dance team here at UMD, which has gotten me interested in sports again since I dance at all of the football and basketball games. I also played intramural soccer last spring, so in addition to being an active spectator when I dance at the games and a passive spectator when I watch other sports on TV, I was also involved in leisure participation. I like watching college sports more than professional, mostly just because I feel more of a connection to them because of UMD. On that note, everyone remember to watch MD vs. Florida St. on Saturday night (7:15 pm ESPN2) and look for the dance team! :)
