Subject: Sporting Biography

Hey everyone! My name is Colleen Cronin and I am a sophomore kinesiology major. I am also getting my prerequisites to enter a nursing program after I earn my degree here. As the youngest of five children very much involved in athletics, I have always loved sports, whether at a leisurely or competitive level. I joined my first basketball team at the age of six and played well into my high school career. I absolutely loved being part of a team, but as the sport approached a more competitive level, my enjoyment somewhat faded. As for basketball, I am more of an active spectator now than a participant. I enjoy watching basketball at the collegiate level because of the excitement and bonding amongst spectators, but have never been as entertained by professional basketball. It's hard to believe that the players are in it for their love of the sport, when they are receivings ridiculous amounts of money and are taking advantage of their power over other people. Throughout the years I have also played soccer, volleyball, ran cross country, and indoor/outdoor track. I am also interested in hiking and swimming. Also, last year I joined the women's crew team here at Maryland. When it comes to sports I am not very picky as to what to play. I'm open to trying new things and enjoying moving and having a good time.
