Subject: Sporting Biography

Hello everyone. My name is Marche' Strickland and I am a senior kinesiology major. When I look back over my life so far I can honestly say that I have participated on most of the levels of Mills' range of sporting involvement. I played basketball for the University of Maryland and afterwards I participated for a short time as a professional athlete in the WNBA. I consider both to be forms of professional participation and occupational participation (I used my "active body" as a form of employment in different ways). As a collegiate athlete and pro. I believe I sported for the excitement, entertainment and expression value (in the sporting E's). Now that that is all over however I play for recreation (the exercise and excitement of it) and am a leisure participant.Sometimes I might get out to a Wizards game or two as an acive spectator but now that they dont have Micheal Jordan I think that will stop (we will see). The other day however I was a passive spectator as I screemed at the t.v. during the Terps vs. Florida state game.
In looking at my participation levels, reasons for playing sport and my intended outcome, I believe that in anyones life they can change or one may have many at the same time.
