Subject: Sport Biography

My name is Brooke Johnson, and I am a freshman, majoring in Kinesiology. After graduating I hope to go back home to Australia and obtain my bachelor of education, so that I can educate high school students in the area of sport and physical activity.
In high school I participated as a leisure participant in water polo, field hockey, basketball and also in swimming. I am now a member of the Maryland Varsity field hockey team, and participate in sport at a more professional level. As an athlete here at Maryland I have found a noticeable change in the level of training and exercise compared to that of when I participated as a leisurely competitor.
Through my experience in sport and the opportunity to come to America and experience collegiate sport, I have been able to learn and be educated on the American culture and bear witness to the enormous influence economics plays on American society and its comparison to that of Australia.
Finally I have felt that sport allows me to express myself, which is defined by the way that I play the game. The individuality of each participant in sport creates diversity and adds to the excitement of the game,making for greater interest in sport.
