Subject: Belgian Beer in Brighton

On a recent trip to Brighton, I came across a couple of good outlets. The Greys, which you already have on the listing, had Orval, Duvel, Chimay Rouge, Westmalle Tripel and Hoegaarden. They usually have more, including Kwak, but stocks were low. It's a nice little pub.

Just up the road is Southover Wines (Off licence), 80-81 Southover Street, Brighton BN2 2UE. Tel: (01273) 600402. A small, independent off licence. Closed when I visited, but judging by the selection in the window there should be a good range of German and Belgian beers there. Certainly worth a look on my next trip.

Near the station, there's Trafalgar Wines (Off licence), 23 Trafalgar Street, Brighton BN1 4EQ. Tel: (01273) 683325. A small, independent off licence where I found Corsendonk Agnus and Pater; Liefman's Kriek, Frambozen and Goudenbrand; Timmerman's Kriek and Frambozen; Delirium Tremens; Lucifer; Rochefort 8 and 10; Brigand; Bush; and a bunch of others I can't remember as well as a some interesting German and British ales.

There's also a pub about halfway from the station to the sea -- The Quadrant, on North Street Quadrant. I noticed in passing that it has quite a few Belgian beers, as well as a range of British real ales, but I wasn't able to stop and check it out.

Cheers

Mike
