Subject: Belgian Beer in South Bucks

Kevin, the licensee at The White Horse in Hedgerley (excellent village pub recently featured in CAMRAS Beer supplement to Whats Brewing?) is now stocking about 10 bottled beers from mainly West Flanders - �2.50 33cl, �6 for magnums. Regular range includes Hapkin and a St Bernadus wheat beer Ive not come across before; and I think I spotted a kriek from Vandervelden (Oud Beersel) in the fridge. BEST OF ALL occasional (poss to become regular if someone comes and helps me drink the stuff...) beers van 't vat: this week Poperings Hommel Bier, St Bernadus Tripel to follow as soon as thats gone. Just �1.50 a half pint. Youll need to bring your own glass if you want it out of the correct vessel. Phone ahead to check availability esp the draught stuff 01753 643225. Trains out of Marylebone to Gerrards Cross then a pleasant walk across the fields or get a taxi. Open all day Sat + Sun, closes weekday afternoons. Well worth the effort!
