...and it was hysterical to read how very seriously some people take the issue of fanfic vs. real writing. LOL! It started out reasonably and civilly, but finally deteriorated into, "You're showing your ignorance again." "And you're showing your arrogance again."
I was a little offended at the blunt comments that fanfic writers don't have what a real writer has - that cropped up several times, and at one point someone (Jonquil?) asked (paraphrased), "What is this elusive magic 'something' that 'real' writers have?" That question was not answered, at least as far as I could tell.
Yes, I guess this makes me a Class "A" Masochist. Bring on the black leather reading glasses and the ball-gag. Force me to scrutinize Harold Robbins novels until my eyes roll back in their sockets. Don't let me scream, "DRIVEL! EXPLOITATION OF WOMEN! OH, MY GAWD - MIXED METAPHORS!"
