to the idea I was toying with - (partially of course because I haven't rewatched either of these eps yet and had forgotten just how close they each came to dying in them! *g*) - that Paul and Madeline would continue in place for a while, but that their own internal demons plus the vicious internecine politics of Section/Oversight/Center would bring them down in the end.

In fact, I half wondered if it would have all played out more or less the same - ie crashing and burning in a Center mandated house cleaning four years or so out from the Shays mission - because the dynamic that was driving them was their own and Section's, and not really of Nikita's making - so not really hers to help or hinder.
