I like the muddle through - never really know what to say to people who wonder 'how we do it' -- like all parents, you just do...

That said, the comment geo referenced - that social gatherings are always about trying to make the abnormal normal - or at least not impose your abnormal on someone else is really stressful for me. ... and Dan is easier than most.

I also struggle with the volume of resources we are dedicating to a kid who (without trying to sound mean here - really) when he's an adult is going to essentially be warehoused. We will attempt to warehouse him in an environment that is respectful and caring and that Dan gleans enjoyment from, but none-the-less at this point in life we don't have productive activity goals for Dan. Everything we need to work on that would make Danny an easier part of society (e.g., feeding himself, dressing himself, bathing himself) we can't officially work on in school because it's not "educational". Go figure...

I heard a folk song once where the chorus was just 'plow to the end of the row'. That has remained in my head for a long time...
