No. Quoting the Simpsons is designed to amaze others with your incredible knowledge. I merely suspect that after one or more of the movies that Ben has seen recently, he has come into contact with this phenomenon, and become irritated with it.

No. Your way of telling Simpsons quotes is in fact superior in that you say the quotes at random times, when people are not likely to have recent memories of watching the episode. So at least it adds some new content to a discussion.
Even so, I think you could benefit from choosing quotes based on their relevance to the conversation.
