good times

ive lived in speke for 43 years , seen it change over the years, speke was a great place to live in the 60, and some of the early 70,s ive worked , in the baths the parks and gardens , all over speke , i know most of the old familys of speke ,good honest decent folk, some dead ,and gone. some of the youngsters of today, leave a lot to be desired, i know there is not a lot to do ,for a majority of the youngsters, but we were in the same predicament ,when we were younger, but never done what some of these young people do now, i could go on ,,,but,,anyway ime a boxing referee, also a football ,referee, who deals with young people, day in day out , i was also a fitness trainer, for all age , male and female . so i think ive got a good oppinion, on what ime talking about,...... i could go on but ,, yes that word again but ?.....ps... more next time, yours sincerly michael jones.

Mick ....nice to have some input from a Spekeite. Having lived in Speke for such a long period of time, you must have reams of memories to draw on. How about sharing some of those fond memories. Why not allow us to create a page for you on the Memories page section of the site. Of course the offer is open to all the people of Speke and ex Spekeites........let's hear from you all. It all helps to make the site more interesting.

Last Christmas,I played in a Veteran's Soccer Tournament in Waterloo, Canada and bumped into an ex Speke resident. We both lived in Speke from 1950 to 1960 before moving with our parents to Canada. So many memories flooded back but time has a way of dulling the details. We recalled living on Burnage Close and playing in Damwoods, walking down to a bridge where you could stand and watch the steam trains pass under you, walking to Hale Village for cut flowers and being told to be aware of the gypsies. The smell of tar to this day brings memories of moving into the new house. The women fighting over their kids ... asking around for a shilling for the gas meter but most of all the memory of a close knit community that shared tea bags, sugar and caring. Today, I tell my grandkids of my very special childhood ... thanks

Long time no see lad, takes me back to the good old days in Speke. me Ma still in Eastern Ave so is our Karen. I remember the great times at St Ambrose Boxing Club with old Mr naylor and Paul King. How's young Mick these days?

Hi hoping someone can help,im trying to find eddy smith he was at all hallows school at the same time as me.we dated after we left school.he wood have known me as marion leigh.when we dated i lived in clock face st helens.he was such a nice guy would love to find him again,can you help.
