She spoke bluntly, as was her habit, her fear and worry causing her voice to sound flat.

"Mama's missing. I haven't seen her in ages. It's not like her to stay gone so long and not communicate with anybody."

She couldn't put into words the gut instinct that she had that her mother was in danger. All she knew was that a cold, hard lump had formed in the pit of her belly and she couldn't shake it. The fear had caused her to come back home in search of her mother and to see if her father or Ciri had seen her. Never before had she been plagued by the terrible sick feeling that she endured now. She turned wild eyes on her father, her voice imploring him to help, begging him to make things right, just as she had done as a youngster.

"Daddy, something's wrong, I know it. I can feel it."
