Buffy:Dawn? Oh my God, is that you?
Dawn:It's you...
(They hug)
Buffy:I thought I'd never see you again
Dawn:Well, I'm here.
Buffy:(Smiles) I'm so happy to see you..this is just..I don't know what to say
(Hugs Dawn then stops abruptly)
Buffy:You're not an illusion, right?
Dawn:Not the last time I checked
(Silence)
Dawn:I can't believe it's you..since you died...
Buffy:Died? Died? I died? Why didn't someone tell me?
Dawn:We thought you were dead
Buffy:Well in this place your as good as
(Dawn looks around at the sunny forest)
Buffy:With all the darkness and the evil
(Dawn looks around again)
Dawn:Did you hit you head when you came here?
Buffy:What?
Dawn:This place is beautiful
(Buffy looks around then realises)
Buffy:What you're seeing is an illusion, That's how it first looked when I came here. It's designed to hide reality from you so you're not prepared.
Dawn:Prepared for what?
Buffy:You'll see, close your eyes
(Dawn closes her eyes)
Buffy:Focus on the darkness. Then open your eyes
(Dawn opens her eyes and sees where they really are, inside a dark cave)
Dawn:Whoa
Buffy:My sentiments exactly
Dawn:So there must be demons or vampires here
Buffy:How'd you guess?
Dawn:Your're accompanied by Mr Pointy, who you were so eager to introduce me to before
Buffy:(embarassed) Sorry about that... You know, if you want demons then this is the right place
(They move through the tunnels and see a massive underground cavern. Humans are chained together are slowly moving in lines and are being whipped and beaten by demons and working like they were in 'Anne', there are flames everywhere)
Dawn:What the hell?!
Buffy:Got it in one
(Camera cuts to the Magic Shop. The Gang have the last vampire surrounded)
Vampire:You can kill me , but he'll never let you bring back the Slayer. Maximus' power is infinite he-
(He's staked by Xander)
Xander:I'm sorry, were you saying something?
Willow:Did you hear him? They know about the spell
Giles:I doubt they'll try anything else. This threat is temporarily over
Cordelia:(To Xander, so no-one else hears) We could have got more info if you hadn't decided to play the hero
(Grabs Cordelia and drags her behind a bookshelf so no-one will notice)
Xander:What's with, Mrs. I-Have-Visions?
Cordelia:Nothing. But seeing you now has made me realise nothing's changed.
Xander:Well apart from your hair, you haven't changed. I mean I'm supposed to think you have layers now, you have as much depth as...something with not a lot of depth
Cordelia:I think you're just jealous
Xander:Of you?
Cordelia:Yeah, I've got super powers and with that you are now officially the only one without any special abilities
Xander:Giles is normal
Cordelia:Oh please, the guy's a genius
(Xander is silent)
Cordelia:So, I never figured you'd be shacking up with demon gal
Xander:Ex-demon
Cordelia:So... is it serious?
Xander:We're getting married
Cordelia:Wow, that's pretty serious...Well at least you won't cheat on her with Willow this time
(Xander's silent)
Cordelia:Sorry.That was harsh
Xander;It's okay.I've gotten used to that trademark Cordelia Chase charm
Cordelia:Well, congratulations... on the engagement
Xander:Thanks
Cordelia:She's pretty attached to you.I'm surprised she isn't interrupting this conversation
(Anya appears)
Anya:What's going on?
Xander:Nothing, I'm just telling Cordelia about our engagement
(Anya places her arm in Xander's arm)
Anya:(Pleased) We're getting married
Cordelia:Yeah, I got it the first time
(Camera cuts to Tara who's standing behind Willow, she spots the symbol on Willow's neck)
Tara:What's this?
(Camera cuts to outside The Magic Shop, Max and Cobra are walking away)
Cobra:That was a waste
Max:They served their purpose
Cobra:They never killed anyone, they died.
Max:(shrugs his shoulders) I never said it was a good purpose
Cobra:I don't understand. They failed they did not stop them from resurrecting of the slayer
(Max turns and looks at Cobra)
Max:Who said I was trying to stop them?
(Camera cuts to hell, Dawn and Buffy are watching what's happening and are hidden out of sight)
Dawn:This is-oh boy
Buffy;It's hell, Dawn.Deal. I have. I've been trapped here for what seems forever and it's only been a few weeks
Dawn:I'm sorry.
Buffy:What's done is done
Dawn::Don't you ever think things would be better if I -
Buffy:No, I don't. I know what you're going to say. Dawn I made the choice of me and you and chose me, it's no use crying over it.
Dawn:But-
Buffy:(Puts her hand on her hips) Discussion over.
(Silence)
Buffy:How's everybody at home?
Dawn:Not coping. They'll be O.K when I get you home
Buffy:How's...Angel?
Dawn:Well, he thought the love of his life was dead, yeah, he was just dandy
Buffy:Enough with the sarcasm
Dawn:He helped to get me here
Buffy:Good
Dawn:So...how come you're free?
Buffy:I escaped, I'm part of a group of rebels.This place is different to the one I went to when I...
Dawn:Ran away?
Buffy:Yeah. It looks different and since your're not looking at an older version of Buffy Summers I'm guessing time is the same speed as our dimension.
Dawn:Have you been..tortured?
(Buffy is silent)
Buffy:I don't wanna talk about it.
(Silence)
Dawn:So, all we need to is hide here until the portal opens to get us back.
Buffy:I think there might be a problem
Dawn:What?
Buffy:Them
(Buffy points to behind Dawn where three demons are standing)
(Camera cuts to a cage where Buffy and Dawn where they have been contained by the demons)
Dawn:Why didn't you take them.You could have took them
Buffy:And risk getting you killed? I don't think so
Dawn:Great.Dawn Summers messes up again. (Sits down on the floor)
Buffy:This isn't your fault
Dawn:Yes it is. I shouldn't even exist
Buffy:This is not your fault.None of this your fault
Dawn:If I didn't exist you wouldn't have went through the portal and you wouldn't be here
Buffy:Look, it's not your fault you are what you are, you can't keep on feeling sorry for yourself. Look at this place, it's filled wth hate, despair, eternal anguish....(Sternly) do you think I escaped by feeling sorry for myself. Dawn, either your're gonna take control of the situation or the situaton's gonna take control of you, your choice.
(One of the two guards approaches Buffy)
Buffy:Got a problem?
Guard:I'm not the one in the cage (Sniggers) Where are your rebel allies now?
Buffy:Wouldn't you like to know
Guard:You are a burden slayer. You've caused trouble for us. The boss has nice plans for you
Buffy;Goody! I'm getting a promotion!
Guard:(Angrily) You dare to mock me?
Buffy:Uh-huh
Guard:You're gonna be torn apart, he'll tear you a new smile.He'll make you eat your own entrails
Buffy:Nice imagery
Dawn:She's not scared of you . My sister can totally take you
Guard:Oh please,this puny slayer she's nothing, she-
Buffy:WHAT!
Guard:My strength dwarfs her, I-
(He's stopped short by Buffy kicking the cage door onto the guard, the guard falls to the floor)
Buffy:Not so puny now
(The other guard approaches Buffy she kicks him and takes his ax and then throws it at him, she grabs Dawn's hand and they run away)
(Camera cuts to a warehouse. Max is talking to Cobra)
Cobra:About what you said before. If you don't want to stop them from resurrecting the slayer. Then what is your plan?
Max:It's a long story. It starts like this- you know what my focal powers are?
Cobra:Yes, sir. Telepathy and illusions.
Max:Exactly. Well my plan, which I will reveal, involved leading them to that spell using my powers. So, what do you do to lead someone to something?
Cobra: (Thinks) You gave them some sort of clue?
Max:Yep. I gave them incentive to find the spell.
Cobra:The vision. And the dream.
(Max smiles)
Cobra:You mean, they were fake?
Max:Yes, telepathic illusions.
Cobra:(Confused) But that would mean you want them to bring her back
Max:Duh! Of course I do.
(Camera cuts to the Magic Shop)
Tara:Willow, I never knew you had a tattoo
Willow:Neither did I.
Tara:Well there's something on your neck. Wait, I recognise this....This represents...impurity.....Oh man.
Willow:Impurity? Why is there a symbol for impurity on my neck? (Panics) Why is there a symbol for impurity on my neck?!
Giles:Do you know how this could have happened?
Willow:Someone must have infected me
Giles:Can you think who?
Willow:I think I would have noticed!
Tara:Not if someone did a spell (thinks) but then there would be no symbol. Can you remember anyone who's come into contact with you or your neck lately?
(Spike thinks and remembers human Cobra bumping into her)
Spike:Cobra
Xander:So, he infected you, what does that mean- you sneeze to death?
Tara:It makes her spirit impure. It has a really bad effect it affects her spirit, her behaviour, her spells...Max..or Cobra , must have had a purpose for doing this
Giles:There's something not right here, why would he want to do this?
(Camera cuts to Max's warehouse)
Max:The answer to that is simple I want them to bring back the slayer but with...modifications
Cobra:In what way?
Max:The wicca- she's the vessel for the spell- so the spell will be impure giving us the next best thing to no slayer-
(Camera cuts to the Magic Shop)
Willow:-An evil slayer
Xander:So he tricked us
Giles:Of course, he doesn't want to stop us from bring her back
Cordelia:He needs us to.
Willow:That means the minute Buffy steps through the portal she'll be evil
Cordelia:I'm pretty sure I didn't come to Sunnydale to see Buffy go Faith on us.
Tara:We have to purify you.
Willow:Do you know how to?
Tara:Yeah, but we need to do it before the candle burns out
(Camera cuts to Angel and Dawn sitting down with their eyes closed and the candle in front of them almost burnt out)
(Camera cuts to hell. Buffy and Dawn are running, Buffy stops then Dawn stops)
Dawn:Don't worry, we lost them
Buffy:So what's the deal. when's this portal arrive?
Dawn:It could arrive at any time
Buffy:Good, I've still got time left
Dawn:Time for what? Buffy, what's going on?
Voice:Yeah, what's going on.Buffy?
(The voice is revealed to belong to a man who's with two other men, they all have weapons )
Dawn:Not again
(Camera cuts to Magic Shop)
Willow:Ready,Tara?
Tara:Yes.
(Tara circles Willow and chants silently)
(Camera cuts to Max's warehouse, Max jerks in pain)
Cobra:What is it:
Max:(In pain) They are undoing my work... reversing the corruption
Cobra:I'll send vampires-
Max:No. There's no time. (Angrily) I'll do this myself
(Max disappears)
(Camera cuts to The Magic Shop, Tara is chanting and Max walks in and Tara stop chanting, because he looks like a teenager they don't know that he's Max)
Giles:Sorry, we're closed
Max:Yeah, I know, I'm looking for something
Giles:What's that?
Max:I dunno I have really high ambition, a century ago I was hoping on worldwide annihilation but I guess you gotta set your sights low
Spike:Century? (realizes) You're Max.
Max:You've been doing your homework.
Xander:But you're just a teenager.You can't be a demon mastermind. What are you gonna do? Make us all listen to teen music. (Thinks) Actually that's a good plan. Nobody deserves that
Max:I may look like a teenager but don't judge a book by it's cover.Judge it by how it's going to slaughter you and your friends
Xander:That's a candidate for thought of the day
Max:Silence (Xander drops to the floor unconscious)
(Anya rushes to him)
Anya:Xander!
(Spike runs towards Max but he holds up his hand and Spike can't move)
Max:You've discovered my plan I see
(The Gang stand silent in fear)
Max:This is gonna be the part where I brag about my plan and how bad I am
Giles:(Sarcastically) Such a joyous part
(Camera cuts to hell, Buffy and Dawn face the armed men)
Buffy:Matthew! It's about time
Dawn:You know him?
Buffy:These are the other rebels
Mathhew:Who's this?
Buffy:This is my sister, Dawn
Matthew:They got her too?
Buffy:No she- (Pause) Yeah they captured her too, one Summers wasn't enough
Dawn:Buffy-
Buffy:Matthew, we have to do it now
Matthew:Now, why now?
Buffy:Trust me
(Matthew begins to talk silently to the two other rebels)
Dawn:(Whispers) Why'd you lie?
Buffy:Dawn, soon, very soon we're gonna launch a full scale attack. These guys all know I'm the slayer- they're relying on me, just like everone is always relying on me, I'll always have the weight of the world on my shoulders, it's something I can't escape - I really don't think it'd be a good idea to tell them I'm going to have to bail.I don't think 'I've made you risk your lives, led you to potential death, now I gotta go' is gonna go down well, call it a hunch
Dawn:I see your point
(Matthew approaches them and the two other rebels leave)
Matthew:They calling the rebels. What were you whispering about?
Buffy:Nothing
Matthew:Come on, lets go
(They walk through the tunnels and then come to a part of the tunnel where all the rebels are gathered, a man approaches Buffy)
Buffy:Drew
Drew;Buffy, where you been
Buffy:I went out shopping
Drew:Ha Ha... So it's true then. We're gonna attack today.
Buffy:Yeah, everybody ready?
Drew:Yeah (Looks at Matthew who's talking to all the rebels) Matthew's just raising spirits
Dawn;Full scale attack- ever done that before ?
Buffy:Yeah... if you count not doing it as doing it
Buffy:(Turns to Drew) Think we can take em?
Drew:Not like we have a choice- it's now or never
Matthew:(Shouts out so everyone can hear) Everybody, it's time
(Camera cuts to the Magic Shop)
Cordelia:So you gave me that vision?
Max:Yes. All to lead you on a false path.
Willow:Well, not really Buffy is actually trapped and we do need to get her back
Max:Yeah, but I don't think anywhere in your plan did you want to bring her back as servant of the dark side.
Cordelia;Damn right
Max:Now it's too late- you can either reverse the spell and lose the Slayer forever or let her come back evil on the off chance you can change her
Cordelia:You know someone might wanna with something really good right about now
Willow:We can still purify me
(Max walks towards Dawn)
Max:Do it and I'll kill the Key
(Giles steps toward Max, Max holds up his hand )
Max:You don't wanna do that Mr. Giles, otherwise you'll end up like Xander...So what's your choice?
(Camera cuts to hell, the rebels are marching through the tunnels, Dawn grabs Buffy's arm and pulls her away from them)
Dawn:You can't do this
Buffy:What?
Dawn:The portal's gonna open near me, if you fight this battle there's a good chance you won't make it to the portal
Buffy:(Shrugs) You can do the spell again
Dawn:It's a once in a lifetime spell
Buffy:(Thinks) Dawn, I have duty to these people,
Dawn:I know, it's what you do, but-
Buffy:No! You don't get it. It's not what I do, it's what I am. Being a slayer is what I am, death is what I am, no matter where I go this stuff always follows me. What difference does it make what dimension I'm in? This isn't my job. I realise that now, it's my life. I can be mad about it but it's never gonna go away , no matter how far or fast I run
Matthew:(Calls out) Buffy, you comin?
Buffy:(Shouts) Sure (Turns to Dawn and gives her a crossbow) Stay close to me, it's gonna be rough... It's time to raise hell
Part 5
(Camera cuts to the big underground cavern where the torture and work takes place)
(Suddenly the rebels appear and chaos ensues, the rebels start to battle the demons, Matthew and Buffy lead the fight with Dawn behind Buffy)
(Camera cuts to the Magic Shop)
Tara:We-We're gonna stop you
Max: (Mocking her stammer) I-I-I'm shaking in my boots. (Firmly) So what's your choice, the suspense is killing me....Well it would be if I wasn't already dead.
Willow:I'll go for the forth option
Cordelia:(Confused) Out of the three?
Max:What are you talking about,witch?
Willow:Well we can leave Buffy trapped forever, bring her back evil, reverse the spell...
Max:And I'll kill Dawn
Willow:..Or we can kick your ass back to where it came from
Max:What?
(Willow stands up and begins to mutter something her eyes turn dark, she begins to glow,)
Max:Looks like the witch is gonna show us a party trick
Willow:I don't do tricks
(A beam transmits from her and hits Max)
Max:No!
( He turns a radiant white and disappers)
I do magic
(The Gang are shocked)
Spike:Wow
Cordelia:Remind me never to get on your bad side! When did you become such a badass wicca?
Spike:Let's not get too happy
Tara:He's right, the purification isn't over
Willow:We need to hurry
Cordelia:Why
Willow:Because..
(Camera cuts to hell)
Dawn:There's not much time left
Buffy:What? Wait hang on (Buffy kicks a demon heading toward hers and then puts a
stake in his stomach) You were saying?
Dawn:The portal should be opening soon
Buffy:Right.
Dawn:So we need to just need to stay alive and-
(She stops talking when a demon grabs Buffy by the neck and throws her to the ground)
Demon:You must be Buffy ...The Vampire Slayer.
(Camera cuts to the Magic Shop)
Spike:Hurry. The candle's almost out
Tara:I'm going as fast as I can
(Tara continues chanting and sprinkles powder on Willow)
Buffy:Who are you?
Demon:You wouldn't be able to pronounce my real name.You can call me Lucas .I'm in control here-and you, slayer, are the thorn in my feet
Buffy:(Holds up a stake) That's funny cos pretty soon I'm gonna be the stake in your heart
Lucas:Care to take a wager on that
Buffy:Yeah how about I wager your life
(Plunges the stake at Lucas but he slaps it away
Lucas:All talk, no action
(Tries to punch Buffy but she blocks him and pushes him away, she kicks him and then punches him, he punches her in the stomach and tries to punch her again but she ducks, he towards her and she jumps over him)
Lucas:Fancy acrobatics aren't gonna kill me. No but this will
(She throws a stake at him , it lands just below his shoulder, he pulls it out)
Buffy:Maybe not
(Camera cuts to Max's warehouse, a vampire approaches Cobra)
Cobra:What?
Vampire:Our spies. They say, the witch, she- they say she killed Maximus
Cobra:What? She's not powerful enough!
(Vampire shrugs)
Vampire:That's what I was told
(Cobra stakes the vamp)
Cobra:I hate bad news...How could she kill him? This is extremely bad...Oh well (Shrugs and walks out of the warehouse) I never liked this town anyway
(Camera cuts to hell)
( Buffy is fighting Lucas, she tries to punch him but he blocks her punch, and punches her, she falls on the floor, she punches him and flys back up, he kicks her and she falls again)
Lucas:I overestimated you..After you.... (waves his hand at all the rebels who are fighting) I'm going to kill them all...Urk (He's hit by an arrow as he falls down the camera reveals Dawn standing there with a crossbow)
Dawn:He was all talk.No action
Buffy;Thanks
(She begins to fight another demon, suddenly the portal opens)
(Camera cuts to The Magic Shop)
Spike:Make with the haste.The candle's gone out
Tara:Just one more thing
(She sprinkles something on Willow, Willow's eyes go red and the symbol on her neck disappears)
Giles:Just in time.Now we better pray that all's well
(Camera cuts to hell, the portal's open and Dawn is next to it she can see Buffy in the distance fightng)
Dawn:(Shouts) Buffy!We have to go!
Buffy:(Shouts)I have to help these people!
Dawn:They can help themselves! This isn't where you belong. We need you, Buffy
(Buffy thinks about this and heads for the portal, she pounds against something and is knocked to the floor, she looks up to see Lucas is there)
Lucas:Going somewhere? Stupid slayer...thought you could get rid of me
(Buffy picks up a ax and decapitates Lucas)
Buffy:That was the plan
(She runs to the portal and it closes behind her)
(Matthew is fighting, he turns and looks around )
Matthew:Where's Buffy?
(Camera cuts the Magic Shop)
(Angel wakes up)
Angel:Wow...I feel relaxed
(Sees the look on their faces)
Angel;What happened?
Cordelia:Vampires attacked us, we found out who Max was, he nearly killed Willow, she kicked his ass and the spell almost went wrong
Angel:So, nothing much then
(Dawn wakes up)
Angel:Dawn, are you alright?
Dawn:(Grins) Yeah there was another world and Buffy was there and she's alright and-
Spike;Woah.Hold your horses. Where is she?
Dawn:You mean she's not here>?
(Suddenly a white light envelopes the room, when it disappears, Buffy is on the floor where the candle was, she stands up)
Angel:Buffy?
(He goes towards her and hugs her, Buffy pushes him away)
Buffy:One question....who the hell are you?!?
(Xander wakes up from the sleep Max put him in )
Xander:I'm awake...So,did I miss anything?
(The gang stares at him)
(Over title card)
Xander:Guys?
