Half Term – Julie is prepared to run some additional training sessions for individuals as it seems that half term is different weeks in different area’s which is making it difficult to have a single squad day. Please phone Julie if you are interested.

Julie has moved to her new house near to Fenny Compton, so she’s going to be busy decorating for a while. Having a new home she’s able to set up her internet access, so will be contactable by e-mail again.

The surface in the barn has now had the additional fibre mixed in and this means that training can now continue in all weathers

NEW LOGO REQUIRED - attention all you budding artists, we need a new logo for EVS to go on cat suits, bags, coats, handouts website, etc. So get your pencils out or fire up your graphics program on your PC and get designing. If we get enough we’ll put it to the vote and maybe I’ll buy some choccies for the winner!

EVS Weekly Newsletter -- Bob Winskell, 16:40:28 12/30/06 Sat

Just a quick note, I've spoken to Julie today and vaulting this Sunday is cancelled due to the forecasted high winds, gales and rain. The surface in the barn hopefully will be ready for next week so that will allow vaulting to continue despite the weather.

So the next training session will be on Sunday 7th January 2007, 11 am to 2 pm and can you please bring your secret santa presents with you so we can have a mini x-mas day.

Don't forget your EVS membership is due for renewal so please complete the forms and bring your money.

Have a happy New Year.

Cheers

Bob

News
Winter Ball – The EVS social event of the year was held last Saturday and from all the chat on Sunday you all had a wonderful evening with not too many sore heads the next day. Julie has asked me to thank the following – Pam and Dick for the meal, Chantal and Siobhan Vizard for being the waitresses for the evening, the band – Andy Gemmel on drums, Mick Kemp on piano and Rod Evans on bass, also the DJ, Andy Humphrey.
Awards were presented to Stef Hunter for most improved vaulter, Lydia Barham for the vaulter who has made the most effort, the Vaulters Vaulter was Sarah Reid and finally Wendy Bell was given an award for her outstanding contribution to vaulting.
Thanks must also go to Charlotte and Lisa Walker for donating their sponsorship money raised for climbing Mount Keyna and Mount Kilimanjaro.

Sponsorship – The cheques were presented last Tuesday (5th of December) by Dave Clarke from McAlpines and John Hensman from DCT Civils who came along giving cheques of £5000 & £1500 respectively. Mark Williamson from the Stratford Herald took some fantastic photographs. Despite it being very windy the rain stayed away and the sun shone. John Hensman was even pursuaded to have a go at vaulting!!
Julie provided champagne, drinks and cakes (the perfect hostess). She had also worked very hard to clear the area in front of the stables. The horses looked great in their competition rugs.
McAlpines are now awaiting the photographs from the Herald as are DCT and when they have them they will post them on their company websites, hopefully leading to more sponsorship.
The photos can be viewed at http://www.m-37.com/vaulting/index.htm
New Horsepower - “The gentlemen” has joined the EVS stables and wants a nickname so get your thinking caps on.
BEV Reminder - please renew your Memberships through your Clubs from January 1st, EVS subscriptions are also due.

News

Winter Ball – is tonight so there will be a full report next week.

The sponsorship cheque from McAlpine Construction was presented on Tuesday 5th of December, with the Stratford Herald coming along to take some pictures for publicity. One of the visitors wanted to have a go, so Julie got him on the horse and cantering round, all this with the guy in his business suit! Could this be a theme for the new EVS cat suits?

The new barrel has arrived and I believe it’s in Julie’s favorite colour so we hope it does scare the horses!

NEW LOGO REQUIRED - attention all you budding artists, we need a new logo for EVS to go on cat suits, bags, coats, handouts website, etc. So get your pencils out or fire up your graphics program on your PC and get designing. Winter Ball - Tickets are selling well, so come and buy yours while there’s some left! Can all those who are coming to the Ball bring in their money for the tickets as the 9th December isn’t too far off now. As stated previously the Ball will held at Weston-Under-Wetherly Village Hall. Tickets are available from Julie at £20.00 each.

The sponsorship cheque from McAlpine Construction will be presented on Tuesday 5th of December, this has allowed the surface for the indoor arena to be ordered and hopefully this will be delivered and laid before x-mas and be ready for use in the New Year, Sarah is working on designs for the new cat suits for the EVS teams as previously posted.

The new rollers have arrived from Germany at last, so they will be available for use at the weekend. Many thanks go to Debbie and Michael Hunter for their generous donation that has enabled the purchase of these necessary items. Also EVS has gained a new barrel, thanks to Gordon Williams, which should arrive soon.

News
The English Championships held on 1st October at the Warwickshire Agricultural College, Moreton Morrel, welcomed vaulting groups from Overton, Lauderdale, Wee Counties, Cader, Warwick and of course the hosts, EVS. Unfortunately the weather decided that thunder, lightening and torrential rain were the order of the day, but it didn’t dampen anybody’s spirits and the competition progressed with enthusiasm and flare from the vaulters. Some of the horses were a little distracted by the weathers onslaught at times but the day was a great success, and hopefully everybody had a great day. Thanks must go to all the groups for attending, judges, writers and all supporters and followers.
Julie was thrilled by everybody’s performance on the day and her personal congratulations go to Sarah Watson, 1st Female Individual, with a score of 8.039, Ricky Davies, 1st Male Individual, with a score of 7.256 and Steph Hunter, 1st Junior, with a score of 7.027. The Advanced Team also put in a good performance recording a score of 7.4. Geoffrey had an outstanding day, putting in solid performances for one of his first competitions.

Thanks for a great competition Julie and the horses and to Liz for running such an efficient scoring system that got us all away in good time!

Thanks also to Dawn and Ricky for stopping to see that Steph and I were all right on the M40 - a fuel pipe had come loose just as we were on the slip road to the A46 - all mended quickly thanks to the RAC.

See you at training next week with the trusty video that tells all... Gill - sorry that Steph has left her bag with you - at least she is packed ready to stay-over at Julie's next weekend!

Sarah Watson, Liz Watson, Ricky Davies and Kaylia Brewer all took part in the vaulting section of this international equestrian event. Sarah, Liz and Kaylia vaulted on Go Fast who lived up to her name and went very fast! She performed at times in front of 8,000 people and Julie was pleased with her performance in such a big competition as this is only her third international competition.

Ricky vaulted on Tiny, lunged by Corinna Weiss, in the Men’s competition and had a very good event, achieving 20th position, making this a personal best. Well done Ricky!

News

Julie and Kaylia have purchased a new horse called Geoffrey for the squad to use, he is an experienced eventer and had has met the advanced team this Sunday and seemed to cope very well and is settling down well in his new home at Ashow. Unfortunately the sad news is that Tiny has been sold, she’s now with Ararat in Spain, so he will be well looked after. Julie has the use of another horse, Eric, who is presently at another stable and will be with us soon. Bowler has also left Ashow to do vaulting RDA work at Lowlands Farm, Shrewley (between Ashow and Fen End). The team will also be training at this facility during the winter.

If you or another vaulter you know would like to receive a copy of this weekly newsletter by e-mail just send the email address to robwinskell@hotmail.co.uk and they will be included on the mailing list.

Hi All,

Have just spoken to Julie who is tired but happy after a successful competition at Munich.
training this weekend:29-30th july
Novice session - saturday 11-1pm
advanced session - sunday 11-1pm.

There may be a demo at Gatcombe Park on sunday 6th aug. Advanced team please watch for further news.
There will be training if this doesn't happen.

With a view to helping Julie out a bit more, we would like to set up a regular email drop to keep you all informed of events/training sessions etc incase you don't have time to visit the website. With this in mind can you all please send an email to Zoe's Dad, Bob who has agreed to do a weekly round robin.
robwinskell@hotmail.co.uk

I have offered to do the EVS accounts and would much appreciate it if fees could be paid by cheque where possible. This will help with keeping track of income.

Julie looks forward to seeing you all at the weekend and to introducing you all to the new chap, Jeff (or is it Geoff?)who has just arrived and is settling in well.

Hi have found some really good photo's of us at saumur 06 on the following address:

http://voltemotion.smugmug.com/gallery/1389488/5/65649018

Not sure when we are training this wekend coming and cant seem to get an awnser off anyone, so i am going with the original thought that was big team on sunday before the comp on monday.

Also due to damage in the lorry over the past 3 trips to the following:
a)table
b)floor
c)door latch
d)door paint
e)cupboard

Wendy has asked that from now on only big team members can travel to / go in lorry, as need to limit numbers to reduce incidents.

Please rememeber Wendy/Sandy lend us their lorry for free and its not free to mend so respect it or loose it.

Lucy

Training -- Jenny Crft, 21:46:36 04/16/06 Sun

Hi EVS!!

Congratulations on the results from Saumur. This no age limit in teams certainly has put GB on the map now with vaulting!!! Well done.

I've just moved to Lambourn (half way btwn Swindon and Reading). I am hoping to come up and watch you lot train, and hopefully get involved with vaulting again a little bit, since I've been away from it so long. Could somebody pls RSVP and let me know when and where you train and if it would be OK to come along. An extra pair of hands usually comes in handy!!!

Please RSVP to this or an email would be grand. Hope you are all well.

Take care, Jen xXx
