Guess what Nici has done to make everyones life easy. She's attached wheels to the front of the barrell, it only needs one to lift it! No more excuses for the barrell being heavy!! Richard (man ! on the yard) found a new website www.voltibilder.de with some really nice photos on, check it out.
A final nag, if you don't update your information on the members page i'm going to update it for you and list your compulsory scores!

Just to say very well done to all on Sunday, very pleased so early in the season and our first competition. Improvement shown by all of you, good to see. Now looking forward to Saumur. Ararat, Aska, Sarah and Karin had another practice today, Tiny looked good. B went swimming.

A new video has been translated from german into english and is now available in this country from equestrian vision. It apparently contains both the basics and advanced moves in both freestyle and compulsories. It starts with a snipit of vaulting history and ends with bit from CVI** rhede.

Hey guys - hope everyones good and working hard. Finished all my impossibly hard exams on friday, have been neglecting the gym for a week so back to it this evening. Wish i could come up this weekend but am going to the optometrist becuase im going blind - discovered that when i couldnt see the clock in an exam, wasnt so useful so am going to get my eyes checked.
How was the AGM? And whats happening not this weekend but the next - 13th and 14th March, i have a free weekend and depending on lifts from the lovely freebodies (and sarah/jeff with her social life hee hee!) i would love to come up if thats ok.
Have fun - oh and someone text me im getting board again in this place - too much work and not enough crazy people like me!

Ronald - really good to hear from you, hope you are well. The Barrell competitions have been really productive it's been really good for me to be able to sit back and watch the kids. Good to read that the Barrelcomp. went well. A pitty that it was too hard to find a good ticket to fly over next weekend. Would've liked it to see you all.

Greetings from New Hampshire USA,

I was wondering if someone could help me. According to some information I found on the web, there was a vaulting horse owned by (or ridden by?) a Jenny Croft - its name is/was HEVESH.

This is my family name, taken by my grandfather upon entering the US from Hungary around the year 1900. He took the name from a small town near Budapest Hungary named HEVES where he attended school.

Other than our core family descended from my grandfather, there are NO OTHERs with this name that we know of anywhere in the world.

Can you help me get in touch with Jenny Croft? We are researching the name and its other connections and would appreciate the opportunity to be in touch with her.

Hi Lucy/EVS in General!

Sorry about the confusing text messages. The story is... Mum bumped into Liz MacKay the other day, and she told Mum that Ann had agreed that they could sell the Christoph roller that we took back to them from Spain. I don't know any more than that, but if you are still looking for a roller I would highly recommend it. It is the best Christoph roller I have ever used. It had a different material on the handles to make it non slip, which is really good. We used it when we did pairs on Rory, and I loved it. Will be in good nick coz Liz keeps everything well, and because that group didn't like it they haven't used it very much. If you want Liz's contact again I can give it to you, just don't want to give it over the internet!

Just like to thank everyone for coming to Stow at the weekend for the barrell comp. and staying for sunday. Great to see everyone there, from Windrush, Arrow, Cader, Wittering, Flexi, Warwick and EVS. Many thanks to all of the trainers and their input, looking forward to the next barrell comp on the 17th. Profits are going towards a new roller and looking after Tiny at Fen End while she recovers from her op. Xenon also now at Fen End over Christmas. Bowler did a short demo today with the twins and Lucy for a man from Sports UK he was very complimentary. Bowler was very hairy but managed for 20 mins. Back in work after Christmas properly, it will take me a day to clip him!

Just like to say once again I hope you all have a very happy Christmas, I'm off to see my sister next tuesday and will see all of you and Aska on the 28th. A great big thankyou to Sarah who has helped train every week, to Liz who has helped nearly every week and to Lucy who has helped when she can. Its been a long year, many ups and downs but more ups I like to think. I'll see whoever can make it this Saturday at 12 just for a 2 hour session before my works do! If I dont see you have a really good time and when your parents are spoiling you once more just remember to thank them for all of their support this year - we all know its been a very expensive year!

Ive got some ideas for freestyle - the pirates of the carribean soundtrack is good - and Rob Dougan's (ie the guy that did mattias lang's old freestyle track from the matrix) Furious Angels album is really good too - if anyone can get hold of either of them have a listen.

Am trying to sort out getting to stow, i definately wont be there for the competition on the 13th but all is depending on parents and their plans at the moment, sorry guys.

Poor tiny babe, glad to hear shes all well! Just a little update from me - could someone please tell me if you are vaulting this weekend, and if the freebodys are coming. Im not going home this weekend so im free if there is training. At the moment i should be able to come to the sunday 14th training at stow, but not the barrel competition on the 13th - really looking forward to it, but i think my vaulting will leave something to be desired! Not been the most active person, but im using the phenominal amounts of work ive got as an excuse. Starting conditioning tonight so i will look normal for stow.
Well i better get back to work, missing you guys - hope youve all been working hard in my absence, do we have a new freestyle?

Alls Well -- julievaulting, 22:41:04 11/26/03 Wed

Just to let you all know that Tiny is fine. She's had a tie back and a hobday operation together that means she has a hole in her throat under her chin which has to be left open to drain ( it will heal up after a few weeks ) and a wound on her neck for the tie back which is stapled together and the staples will be removed in 7 days. She has to stop in her stable for 5 weeks just led out in hand and then back in fitness work. I make that just after christmas so she will be fit enough for Saumur. She should then be able to breathe alot easier and will be able to canter for longer periods - therefore carry team easier. Thanks for all of your good wishes. Thanks Jenny and Linzi, she'll be fine. My major worry was her getting up after surgery but she's good. Theres a student on work placement at the Vets from the College so she knows Tiny well and Tiny is in good hands. Just thought i'd let everyone know that i'm taking Tiny for her operation on Monday. Please send her good wishes all day. She then has to have 6 weeks off and will be at Fen End just after Christmas to start her fitness work. David is coming with me to take her, he's as worried as we are! I should know by 6pm on Monday night if she is ok so if you want to give me a call do so after 6 and i'll post a message on the forum to keep you all informed.

Well hello everyone, just a short meassage to say well done at the championships, you were all really impressive, and made me realise just how bad I actually am at vaulting!!
Thank you Julie for the catsuite, the thought of having to perform infront of everyone in bright pink was just a bit daunghting (oh ye, I can not spell)!! Glad Bowler did not try to sabatage (still can not spell I think) any of the other teams again!!!
Anyway, hope to see you all in december coz by then the Welsh winter will have gotten me depressed and will need a dose of your humour to keep me going into the new year. You are all totally mad.

Sorry to have missed EVERYONE last weekend - believe me I was not a happy bunny at all! But I will be there in December at Stow as I've been invited to judge the barrel competition. Glad to hear you're "out of the pink" by the way! I haven't seen the video yet - just what colour did you wear?!! I might just have to watch that this afternoon with a couple of glasses of wine of course!
By the way, I think Xenon may be at the Stow weekend too - he's out of my hands now, at the college, so Julie should get the chance to use him that weekend, so if you ask her nicely you might get a chance to play!
Looking forward to the Gemini barrel comp too - should be losts of fun and it'll be great to see everyone - I understand Flexi Flyers, Windrush, Wittering and EVS will be there (hope I've not missed anyone) so it'll be a busy day!

Hope you all got home safe, Bowler & Tiny got into their stables at 12.45 travelled really well. Thanks Tony ! Met up with some of the Welsh at Tebay - they drove fast! Thanks to all the organisers at the weekend, especially the collecting ring stewards they were always cheerful and Alex for the thankless task of doing the music.
Thanks to all my mums for coming up and supporting us and keeping me sane with hot coffee, thanks to all my squad you all made me very proud. Thankyou Liz for winning me a lovely bridle. Thanks Tiny for your hard work and for looking after Steph who did so well and the new friends from the flexi flyers. Biggest thanks to Mr Perfect who was as good as gold and made history with his best Individual and best Team horse bless you B, time for a rest, out in the field with Tiny today! Well done to Liz and Sarah for such high scores 1st & 2nd and for Lucy 4th and for getting over 7 with no training ! Becky for being highest placed non international Individual, nearly qualified to go to Saumur. Ricky for 2nd male Individual and Lissi, Suzi and Pippa for their first big competition. Sarah Reid for her junior Individual and her smiley face! Well done to the big improvement in your compulsories team - stay on board next time ! Thanks to the mums and Dads at home and Catflap who should have been there! For taking Xenon to the College so we could have Tiny at Fen End. Well done for a really good looking freestyle SEVT . A Very big WELL DONE to Lucy and Rhubarb for coming 56th out of 135 at Blenheim, a wonderful clear cross country in the time pulled her right up after a not so good dressage test - guess we know which is Lucys favourite element, really good day out on the saturday though, you were both really good to watch. I am determined that this newsletter will not be Scottish dominated. Yes, I admit that its easier to nag people face-to-face up in the land of wind and ghosts to write something for the newsletter. But I can only hope I can persuade one of you from EVS to write a report on anything vaulting (or vaulting horse) related.

Perhaps someone could write about their experience in a display at either the Badminton Dressage Championships, or at Hickstead, or even both! Someone could write about their experience in Saumur, their inspirations coming away from such an event. Anything would be gladly received.

hey guys - thanks julie, definately preferred training to sitting infront of books all day. How did everyone else do?
Got back at 6am this morning, having spent 7 hours LA to New York then 7 hours New York to Heathrow. Also have food poisoning due to dodgy mexican water, which is fun! Got told at a surf camp that i could be a pro surfer, its much easier than sideways stand! have a slight tan which is a bonus.
i hear hickstead went well - and ha ha! lucy understands my pain - right off to be sick or something - bye!

Just like to send lots of congratulations to Ricky, Suzi, Becky, Lissi and Emma for their excellent exam results. I'm just surprised you all got time to study as well as train! Well done all of you.
Tiny has to go back to the college tomorrow. One last swim for her and then back to the grind!
Smirnoff is still very tired, Bowler still like a two year old. I have had many compliments from some very influential people after the display at Hickstead. Well done to all. Aska is back in Japan, all safe and well, she will hopefully be back at the end of September. Agou is training with us on Saturday and Sunday this week. Did you not consider coming up to Blai this weekend?
I was there yesterday and it was glorious weather. sat in the sunshine to watch, no official role this year as I chickened out of jump judging! I have only missed one year since it started...one of the main organisers is Jane Cepok---Katy Cepok's mum! Small world isn't it?
Hevesh and Gambit having a quiet summer. I do some dressage but Gambit is having his first holiday in years, he is now filled out in all the right places. If he wasn't with us he would have been at Blair competing, he has eventing points. Haz has now upgraded him to Elementry dressage and Spencer Wilton thinks he would go all the way...then he doesn't know his temperament!!!!He put me in hospital eight weeks ago when having his teeth rasped, he had had a very mild oral desitive and just collapsed-against me unfortunately. Several cracked ribs and a troublesome sprained ankle have somewhat curtailed riding ambitions this summer... Knowing the way he jumps it would have been quite a sight-everyting is cleared with a good measure to spare.
Hev needs to do some vaulting so getting poor old Keith to sit on him...should be funny as he has not vaulted in three years+...Jen wants to do the Shieldbank comp...she will not have vaulted at all since the first comp of the year...!
Should be interesting!
Then Trev and I off th Canada for two weeks before the Nats...she won't be impressed will she!

My compliments for last trainingsweekend. Seeing you vailt on sunday (with the right concentration) you really showed the improvement you made throughout the year. And it showed that is all in the mind (a large deal it is). keep up that concentration and go for the performance.
And for the ones who weren't there sunday: saturday was good too. I saw the changes you made all seperately. sunday I saw it as a performance in whole.

Just to tell you I picked Tiny up from the College today for the Vetting tomorrow. She is very fat having had a month off, shes going to have to do a lot of swimming to get into her leotard, looks like she been on the Macdonalds ( out with Becky & Pippa no doubt ! ) Fitness regime starts in force tomorrow.

Just thought i'd let you know that Smirnoff has been out again while you lot are all doing exams. This time on home ground at Moreton Morrell. He got 65.6% and came third and gets four more points for his card. He also came third in the medium test. Very pleased with him, he was a very good boy. two more rosettes for his collection. He's out again on Thursday, will keep you posted.

Guess what....I met all of 'misteeq' at our grad ball last saturday! Made getting home at 7.30am the next morning all worth while.

Very clever and very well behaved. Some top eventer judge person said he thought he was wonderful ! I'm very pleased with him and he didn't even eat any of the Ketterer !!

SEVT finished on 6.06 and in 16th placed they did n't go though to the second round.EVS where on 5.7 after fisrt round in italy but you have improved since then.

Just thought I'd let you know we're back, horses trotted off the lorry and promptly rolled and rolled. They feel much better than I do but at least i've now had a bath.!!!
Can we all vault on Saturday at 2 o'clock as I have to work in the morning. Please can someone call Bex as she never reads this!
Well done to everyone , you were brilliant. Thanks for the messages of thanks, I'd like to add a couple : one to Melanie for keeping us tidy and running around shopping and to Fred and Wendy from John Parker Horse Transport for taking special care of my best Squad members! well done to everybody in italy - had a fantastic time and want to go back to the sunshine! Hope everyone has recovered from their 36 odd hours of sleep deprivation, cant believe pip and I slept through take off and landing on the plane!

Sarah, Ronald, Liz, Lucy and especially Julie need a huge hug for organising us amid the stress and a brilliant comp. Bowler and Tiny were stars, and tiny the superstar for getting not one but two people onto the podium!

right, now its working again we are meeting at the check in desk (for ryan air) at 5:30 am. the flight is two hours. we are allowed our EVS bag or one like it and a small hand luggage with lunch in it. the weight limit for EVS bag is 15kg and hand luggage is 7kg.

Hi everyone,

Please brings your sleeping bags with you on Saturday and i'll take them to Italy in the lorry. Tiny's been swimming everyday and looks much cleaner and fitter. Twins did a good demo at the college today with her for the Students, several had a go !!. You also need your p111 for travelling from the post office see you all on Saturday at 2. Alex is coming to see us and wish us luck.

Hi its really funny that there is two horses named after drinks. Smirnoff and Guiness does Guiness look Black with a white top and who owns him and Smirnoff do the vaulters own there own horses as I see Pippa says she has a horse that she hopes to be a vaulting horse.

Just thought i'd like to see it in print - again -
on Saturday March the 22nd 2003 the EVS Advanced Team on Bowler gained a score of 6.38 to take 1st prize at the Scottish Equi Centre in Lannark - the SEVT were second on Guinness. For the Individuals Sarah Watson was first, Liz Watson second and Lucy Bell third all on Bowler, Ricky Davies was first in the boys class on Bowler. Bowler won the best Advanced Team horse. Smirnoff ,the little star carried Liz to fifth place and Sarah to ninth. I think we had a good day.
Can't pick out the best one from the Team you were all angels - even Pippa!!! Thankyou for making me so proud of all of you. See you all Saturday. xxxxxxxxx

We certainly did!! Well done to the entire squad. Everyone was superb - A Team - Individuals - Horses - Thanks to Liz Reid and Andrea for their help and support. Tony and Deb for the transport and parents at home for the long wait wondering what was going on.
