Ok, first of all, it doesn't take 10 years to get in pointe shoes. How old are you? I didn't start doing a lot of ballet until I was 14 and I was in pointe shoes when I was 16. Secondly...if this is truly you dream then you wouldn't be giving up so easily. So you have to take some flat classes first...big deal...you don't get to live your dreams without work. Also, I think dancing in flat shoes can be just as fun as dancing in pointe shoes. I still get that feeling of floating in the air, defying gravity. It honestly doesn't feel that much different in pointe shoes. You go up a few inches high but your feet feel much heavier. You should at least try a ballet class if this is really your dream. And if you don't like it then you probably wouldn't like pointe. It is completely different to watch it than to do it. It can be extremely painful and is A LOT of work...so you are really going to have to commit to it if this is what you want to do. Good luck! Email me if you have any questions...I probably won't check back here...
