It nearly won in 1973 when Evangeline Pascual placed second to USA's Marjorie Wallace, much to the dismay of many Filipino pageant fans who thought that the jury had selected the wrong winner. Wallace was dethroned just under four months into her reign, deemed as having failed to live up to the "queenly image" of the position. Will Carlene Aguilar vindicate Pascual's loss to Wallace thirty-two years ago? - No Far East Asian beauty has ever been crowned Miss World. MABUHAY and GOD BLESS YOU CARLENE.
