Critical correspondent Héctor Colón González will be covering the pageant for this site. This year's theme will be "Glamour y Belleza" (Glamor and Beauty) and the delegates will be initially presented wearing white dresses. The color white has been selected because it symbolizes purity, peace and it is also the most favored evening gown color. Magaly Febles, the franchise owner and director, stated that this year's requirements and competition would be much tougher; she has vowed to produce the fifth Miss Universe from the island after Alba Reyes's excellent performance last year. Febles had to reject several aspirants who did not meet the minimum height requirement of 5'5" and who are overweight, but she also welcomes "recycled" beauties because she believes in not "wasting" them. The preliminaries will take place on October 8th at Teatro Tapia in the old San Juan. The final night will be held on October 14th at Centro de Bellas Artes Luis A. Ferré. Expected to attend the coronation night are Miss Universe Jennifer Hawkins, Osmel Sousa, and Miss Venezuela Ana Karina Añez. Thanks to Héctor for this info.
