Upon reading the email discussing the protests surrounding Miss Saigon, I was very interested in the closing sentence of the article."However, criticism of the musicale for its extravagance and colonial content, clarified the group's chair, is no disparagement of the talent of its Filipino cast." I was wondering what people felt the author was trying to say in closing the article with that line and if anyone felt that those protesting the musical were being hypocritical. I felt that they were in a way, simply because they were praising it for the oppurtunities it gave to people of that background, while admonishing it for what it was saying about the Phillipines. Just wondering what you guys thought.
