Subject: So how are we going to make Raven different to a normal vamp?
Hi all!
I've been thinking about Raven a fair bit recently, and I'm wondering if there's any way to make her different from just an extra strong vampire. She is, after all, a vamped slayer. We should really look at giving her some kind of powers and abilities that set her apart from other vampires. What would a vamp slayer be like?
I have to confess that I never figured out what to do with the vamped slayer in my fic, apart from make her extra strong and fast, more so than any other vampire. But I always had a nagging feeling that a vamped slayer should be more than that, something completely original. A slayer is decended from a mystical line of warriors, and Raven's powers should reflect that.
Neil had several references to Buffy's psychic connection to the slayers in his episode, so we could work that in somehow. Maybe Raven and Buffy would be able to see into each other's dreams? If so, they could use that against each other. After all, Buffy did see Raven kill that girl. Maybe Raven is able to see what Buffy is planning in later eps?
Does anyone have any ideas on how to make Raven different? I'd love for her to have some kind of a surprise, like when Buffy staked noodles and he didn't dust. Anyone?

She could turn into a bat, like Dracula? Although I don't think having the ability to put people under her thrall like Dracula did would work - not for a whole season.
Heh, and here's a thought - what if we see in a flashback that years earlier, Raven cut her chest open and implanted metal armour around her heart - just a plate of metal on the front and back, to make staking impossible? She could also wear metal neck armous to make beheading not an option.
I think that's the route we should go down anyway. She's more of a warrior than most vampires, and so she wears armour to protect her. Maybe she even has a full suit of armous for combat in daylight. We could really get some great descriptions of the armour too - make it all gothic and spiky rather than clean and shiny like the Knights of Byzantium.

In my episode its all about slayer dreams and the such, THEY CAN SEE IN EACHOTHERS DREAMS. Raven and Buffy and Faith will appear in the same dream, eps 1-3 dont use the "slayers in eachothers dreams" thing, except Neil who didnt touch on it, thanks guys!

It's a good idea, and it gives us something to play around with in later episodes, especially since Faith will be around too.
Apart from that, I can't think of anything else. I do like the armour idea though. Or maybe a vamped slayer would be able to walk around in sunlight? Except we'd need a reason why.
I just think that we really need to think of something that makes Raven special somehow. She's a slayer. She shouldn't be just another normal vampire.

Dracula turned himself into a bat and a wolf. What if Raven could turn herself into a Raven, or something else? I know the Raven was seen as a trickster in Native American myth, so it kind of fits. We could have her able to turn into other animals too. A snake perhaps, giving us the link to persperatia?

in my episode there is no room for her to shapeshift, so maybe eppies 5 thru 8 or so what to start to look back on her history, establish who she is....My episode just introduces her character and the fact that she is a vamped slayer and that buffy, faith and raven can see into each others dreams

Perhaps Buffy and Faith should realise that there is something going on, but we don't find out who's messing with them for a while. After all, we don't want to give away too much too early. Maybe all we see in Ep 8 is a different animal following the Slayers in their real lives. Like, we see a raven flying along after Faith as she's on her way to Xander's house, and we see a dog wandering around outside Buffy's house.
If you've already established that we do find out, that's fine, but I think a little more suspense might work well. Just like with S7. We know in Conversations With Dead People that something is psychologically attacking the Scoobs, but we don't find out exactly who until Never Leave Me.

not trying to be difficult, but my episode is introducing the little bad, plus I think if we focus on her being the vamped slayer around episode ten then the gang gets a shock and then BAM another shocker about the four horsemen, and then BAM another shocker with Proserpexa!
Plus my episode is already done, (pending small changes from eps 1-3) and I have some really cool stuff going with it...
