Subject: What about this....

Sorry I took so long to get to this new forum!

Anyway I have read through some of the posts and came up with this conclusion (don't get angry with me or anything!) but I have noticed a few people are trying to write the whole season themselves and if that's the case we might as well all write our own fanfic on season eight.

I think we are going into far too much detail way too soon.

I think all we need is arc ideas for each character and a overall big bad. That's it.

For example:

Big bad: Watchers council, Glory, the devil (pick one, which seems to be the watchers council by popular opinion and that's it enough said.

Season arcs:

Xander- finally marries Anya, Anya pregnant

Andrew- Moves into buffy's house permanent

Willow- becomes even more powerful

etc...............

People seem to be going into details like for example: While Buffy and Spike are fighting demons Anya can go into labour and has her baby the same evening.

I think the writer of each episode should decide what happens in the episode when they write it. Deciding every little thing that's gonna happen spoils it and makes it a little boring in MHO. This thing is meant to be fun, not an essay to be presented to the Teacher at school!

So what!! if there are inconsistancies with the plot episode to episode. We have all noticed this in the real series anyway.

As long as the main story arc is agreed (big bad) and major character arcs (such as couples, pregnancies etc.. are agreed) I think we should be able to write each indivivdual episode as just that, an individual episode and not one big long story. We should get there in the end. I think episode 1 should be written and the episode 2 person reads it and carries it on. then when he has written episode 2 pass both eps on for the next person. I think it would be more fun that way than saying Giles does this Buffy does that in episode 15. As for little bads if we want one in our own episode we should be able to include it. Although a previous big bad can't appear as a little bad, that would be too complicated.

This is what I think, sorry if I'm sounding sarcastic but I want to be honest as really want this to be fun fun fun!!

but I think we are trying to plot out the season much like ME does so that we know where we are going with it. That way one person doesnt start building up a storyline and then another just use another storyline...you see what I'm saying? I hope, cause I'm losing myself! lol

[> No don't feel like you're being sarcastic, I agree Neil -- Mark, 23:39:50 02/18/03 Tue

But I think the intentions are good. People are just trying to make a good season and want to plan everything out so everyone's on the same page. I'm just afraid decisions are being made to soon.

when we write the episodes and they are finsished not everyone is gonna be happy with aspects of a certain episode.

If you write the episode with closure of the episode contents in mind then the next person can pick up on those events if they want to and carry it on. If not may be someone a few eps down the line might decide to instead.

I understand the thing about big story arcs but if we basically know what each character will do were O.K.

It's gonna be impossible to agree on every little point. Please remember that ME get together to discuss seasons. We are just posting on a message board where half the time only a couple of people are here.

Were never gonna be able to plot the whole season out on the message board.

If people go a certain way and then someone else goes another way that's O.K., it's gonna happen anyway no matter what we plot out!

I feel now it's time we agreed a big bad and a few story arcs for all the charcters and start writing!

People are gonna loose interest and not participate if we carry on faffing about.
