What a lucky woman Miss Kay is to have a friend Like Liz!!
Liz did an awesome job organizing the night, it was absolutely perfect! I certainly enjoyed it very much and so did my friend who had not been to Darwins before.
May God bless your life each and every day with good health and lots of loving friends! Thank you, Liz.

Liz; I'm not going to be able to attend the benefit for Kay on April 29, but I would like to contribute to her recovery fund. Is there any place I can send a donation?

Wow. I heard Liz at Darwins last night. I had never been to Darwins before but I saw Diane Durrett at Eddies Attic the night before and she told us she was going to be there with Liz. I saw Liz once before at a benefit concert for Caroline Aiken at Eddies Attic and she literally blew us away. The atmosphere and the size of Darwins was awsome. Liz played her heart out even though she had a little bit of a cold. I will definetly go see her again at Darwins when she is there. She is now my favorite. Keep up the great work Liz and remember the small bars here in Atlanta when you become famous.

Wow. That’s all I can say about Saturday night at Darwin’s for the release of “Sweet Southern Soul”. The atmosphere was great and so was the music. Liz couldn’t wipe the smile off her face while she was singing. It was a great time. And Liz deserves to have a crowd like that to perform for. That was my first time at Darwins but it won’t be the last. I came away with some great memories and some great pictures. I got to meet some other people who were big LMB fans as well. I especially liked the story of Ken and Kelly, who had met 5 years ago to the day while Liz was playing there. Great story.

But the best person I met was Liz’s number one fan, her mom. It was a pleasure to meet this fine lady and you could tell she was very proud of Liz. And as I heard Kelly tell Ms. Melendez, “we really love your girl”. And I believe Liz told me that her mom reads this board, so hi Ms. M. Hope you had a good trip back to NM and hope I will see you again. And by the way, I now know where Liz gets her energy from. Ms. M was up and dancing with the 20 and 30 somethings several times. :-) Any way, it was great to meet her.

Darwins was a great place to listen to live music. For me there are few things more enjoyable that sitting in a small club like that listening to great music played with great passion. And I got a whole lot of that Saturday night. Keep it up Liz. All of us want to see you pick up that Grammy some day. And when you do, I'm going to try and be there to see it live.

Oh yeah. I almost forgot. The CD. I listened to it all the way back to Chattanooga on Sunday. And again, all I can say is WOW. Your first CD was good, but this one is much better in my opinion as it should be. All the songs were great and the musicianship was what I have come to expect from LMB, simply outstanding. Can’t wait to have my friends listen to it.

Hope to see you again soon Liz. Keep on chasin’ the dream.

Your friend and fan,

-Bill-

Thanks to Jenn for the mention of the article on Liz in Mija Magazine. I found the article at the mag's internet site was able to read it. Great article! I practically enjoyed Liz's comments on what makes a muisician and her comments about playing the guitar (like talking or singing). Really good stuff and right on in my opinion. Keep up the good work Liz. Hope to see you soon.

Just read your email about the new CD coming out soon. It made my day and week. And what made my MONTH was the mention of CD release parties in, among other places, Chattanooga! That REALLY got my attention. It's been a while since I've seen the LMB and I need a fix bad. And the combo of a new CD and a release party in Chattanooga, where I live, will definitely take care of my needs. I've had people who've seen you in Chattanooga because I told them about you ask me, "When is Liz coming back to Chattanooga?" Well, not I can tell them to get ready for a return performance. And I also have friends in Knoxville, who want to see you as well because I've told them about you. And of course, I'll be there with them to see you as well. Life is good! Please keep us, your loyal fans, informed about the party dates so we can be there to celebrate with you. See you soon.

Although I must admit I did get a bit of a surprise (a good one) when I walked in the door of Brackins... ;) When I heard the special version of "Keep Your Head On", I just about fell out of my seat for laughing so hard. You guys are just as fun (maybe more so) as I remembered, and I hope to see you again sooner rather than later!

Hello Liz,
Things just aren't the same without you here! Folks always ask if I've heard from you, where you're playing, when you'll be back, etc. As the D/1stCOL I'm suppossed to know all this. Yet it seems so silent out there! I guess it's MY fault for not staying in touch enough. We STILL don't have the CD yet, but I talked to Bladck Jack & LEBO last night & they say 2-3 weeks. I'm getting impatient! Please send me a mailing address so I can ship you your copies. Our 3rd annual Austell Blues Fest is scheduled for 5-22-04. Are you going to be in this part of the world then? Ken Rhyne Band will be this years Headliner. More details to follow. I Love You Always!!!!!!

I hope to be back in the southeast in spring if my new schedule allows.

Let me start off saying how great you are as a musician-and I have seen my share. A total professional on and off stage. I had the pleasure of playing with Liz this past Friday night in Chatanooga at the CBC/Tropicana Room. I have not had so much fun and been so proud to be on stage with a guitar player in a long time! If any of you out there miss her next show, well you just wouldn't want to!! Thanks to all who made it possible for me to play live with what is certainly on of the best blues performers around-bar none!!

Feelin' the love from everyone! Especially those who were at the Blue Note West show on Sept. 13th for the Atlanta's Women of the Blues series. I'm glad to hear that the CD is getting around! The biggest compliment I can get is that more than one CD is needed to keep peace in the home! =-)

I'll see all of you guys again soon...you made that night a real pleasure!

Much love back at ya'!

Hey guys, how's it going? I was just wondering if you were planning on coming to Knoxville or somewhere near here soon. You guys used to come to Sassy's quite often, and I saw that you had been going to Maryville some, but I haven't seen anything in a while.

Cool! I'm definitely looking forward to it. I think the last time I saw you guys play was at the Dogwood Festival in 2002, and that's been too long!

We finally got to hear Liz in person at the Blue Note on 9/13 (yes, we are some of the other Liz' "rowdy friends")and we were totally floored! We could have listened to you jam ALL night. What a great combination...FANTASTIC guitar playing, SULTRY voice, and SEXY lady all rolled into one! MERCY, child!!! (Which, btw, we were thrilled to here TWICE!) Bought a CD but should have gotten 2 as we are fighting over who gets to take it to work to listen to in the car. Thanks for putting up with us...we are fans forevermore!! WE LOVE YOU, LIZ (just in case you forgot already). Beth and Tom

Regretably, I walked out without buying another copy too. I need one for the car, one for the house, one to let my kids borrow... :)

Liz, you are a truly gracious person. As Tom and Beth said, you played Mercy twice, and that was a gift. Thank you, and we love you!

Proud to say I was an LB fan for a while, but now I am a fanatic, having caught the LMB virus at the Blue Note in Douglasville 6/21/03. You should buy the CD and every CD she releases, but you haven't heard her until you have heard her in person. With the pleasure of hearing her comes the privilege of meeting her. Liz, you have so much warmth and a gentle spirit about you, well, except when you're kicking ass on a blazing solo. As a fellow musician,I'm blown away by your talent and your presence both on stage and off. I'm joining the grassroots campaign to spread the word, and bringing even more friends next
time. Can't wait! With love, from another Liz.

The LMB is finally making a return trip to the Scenic City and I can't wait! Liz, I'm looking forward to seeing you and the guys at the Tropicana Room Friday night. I haven't had a chance to see you anywhere since the last time you were in Chattown so it will definately be good to see and hear you again.

I've put the word out to my guitar/Blues lovin' friends and hope to have a few people with me to see you. I know one couple for sure that's comming who haven't seen you before and are excited to be going, mainly because of the bragging I've been doing about LMB.

I've also pointed out that even though this will be the last Friday night of the Riverbend Festival (which you headlined for one night at last year' festival during the Bessie Smith Strutt), the smart people will be at the Tropicana Room to see you! I mean there is no comparison: you get to be inside and not worry about the weather (rain, heat, etc), sit close to a band that wiil be as good as any at the festival; be able to hear well, see well, and have your favorite adult beverage and food served to you by a friendly wait staff and not have to stand in line with 50 other people. What a deal!

Anyway, I'm gettin' carried away. A good time will be had by one and all I know as we've had before. Take care, be safe and I'll see you Friday night.

Your Friend and No. 1 Fan in the Tri-State Area
-Bill-

P.S. Just remembered, will you have any of the LMB bumper sticker, shirts, or caps mentioned on the web site? If so, save one of each for me. Got to have 'em. I was almost ready to design and have some made myself to wear.

As the Self-appointed, Fully annointed, Deacon in the First Church of Liz, I want to give a big ol' THANXX to you, Snakebite & Lexxx for making the 2nd Annual Austell Blues Fest (or RexxFest, or Big Damn Jam, or whatever)a HUGE success! We (Harry, WRFG, & I) couldn't have done it without our musically talented friends, of which YOU are the greatest! I've already got other bands asking to be included in next years line up(Andrew Black & Forrest McDonald, Bill Sheffield, & others). The Blues Gods truly smiled on us that day. Anyone that missed it, please stay tuned for more info on the next one. The CD will be forthcoming & The Lovely Liz will have copies for sale as soon as I get them to her (which may take a while, but IT WILL HAPPEN!)
Again, Liz, THANXX! MUCH LOVE & SUCCESS!

It was great to see the show at The Club, and even though there were problems with the sound at that place the band was right on. I'm proud to call you my friend Liz and can't wait till you come back to my small little town,Roanoke. Love ya Shannen

As a female guitar player that's been working on my skills for 20 years, I've got to say that Liz blew my mind last night in Roanoke. This was my first exposure to Liz's playing, and I hope it's not the last. I ended up buying a CD, which I'm listening to as I type this, and I'm loving it. Great guitar tone. Hope to hear more and see more of Liz in the future. Thanks for the show, Liz!!!

I drove 30 miles into Montgomery, AL with the idea of visiting the few blues clubs available to see what was happening. I stopped first at Gators. I stayed at Gators, and never went anywhere else. I heard a little Stevie Ray, some Santana, a smidgen of Joplin, and I swear I heard a bit of Tanya Tucker on the song “Drink your wine”. Most of all I heard The Liz Melendez Band performing some great music. I will be at Gators in May when the Band returns. Thank you for a great night of music.

what an AWESOME night for those fans & new listeners at the blue note (the up & coming night spot) in the atlanta area, just a bit on the west side. Liz played for Dave a song from her new cd, 'drink from my cup'...with those famous lyrics... "I don't wanna be your enemy, but I think I've has enough. I know you only want the best for me and I'm searching for some...strength to raise it to my lips...and take a drink from my cup..." The comment that followed was just as great, about the lyrics being posted somewhere, at Sierra's...wish she could have been there...again, an AWESOME night, still waiting for the new cd. Let me know when you are in Tennessee, I do the gig every other week, chattanooga & knoxville, maryville...dave from d'ville

He will be with us as his new service schedule permits and God willing, this war will end soon so no more will be sent and our service men and women can get home to their loved ones.

For those of you who might be reading this who haven't seen Liz, GO SEE HER ASAP! She is an exceptional talent and her guitar playing is awsome.

Liz, keep up the great work and as one of your other fans said to you Friday night, I hope all you career goals come true. You deserve it.

Hope to see you again soon. Also, the pictures I took will be in the mail tomorrow.

WOW! Where to start... I havent been around the LMB since the beginning, but I've been around for a while. To date, I have personally purchased 7 Mercy CDs and told everyone I know about them ... from Illinois to Mississippi to Austin to South Carolina...

As a performer... she kicks ass... as an individual...she kicks ass... as a friend... a REAL friend... nedd I say it? ... she kicks ass.

Unlike other performers (and I know several) she is the ONLY one who let an inexperienced and scared sh*tless rookie get on the stage with her to play the only thing he knew how to play... track #4 from Mercy... what a rush...

and to provide HER with the very first guitar she ever autographed (which I laminated, play DAILY, and will NEVER get rid of)... "Rock on Brother, XOXOXO, Liz"

She is part of my inspiration to play as well as I can, and to have as much fun as possible doing it...

Thanks Liz, for everything. I wish ALL of the members of the LMB much deserved success, respect, and good fortune... artists and friends like you are what make music so much fun.

Love,

Matt
