Primal insanity, eh? I can't hang out one single definition out there, but one take on it, based on my experience, is when I have found myself in a space where taking myself out is a very real, valid option. Enough was enough. It's over. Why keep on going? What's the use. In the end, it doesn't matter. There's absolutely no reason to take the next breath, much less the next whatever. That totally completely fucked space where you are just so dragged down that you frankly don't give a shit, even to that serious of a degree. There's simply no reason to put up with all of this anymore. That's the feeling of it.
