One of the first things I noticed when I embarked on this Way was how FORBIDDEN the territory I was entering felt: forbidden by all my convictions about who I am and can be; forbidden by every other one who can feel how destabilizing it is for any of us to be radically changed in any way.

And maybe the second is just the mirror image of the first. It IS terrifying to contemplate that hyperbolic vastness that is OurSelves. Such rage, such terror, such grief. Such confusion, such pain. And such tenderness, such wonder, such delicacy. In the midst of these horrifying events, reacting to these horrifying events, it is hard to see ALL of the truth: the rage, terror, grief, darkness ARE REAL. But they are not MORE real than the tenderness, wonder, delicacy, light. They are not the sum total of Reality.

All of the Truth is that each of us, in each dawning heart, DOES hold the All of It, what is in the foreground AND what seems for the moment outshouted. And the Heart that IS the All of It holds every one of us, in our every moment and every mood. "Though lovers be lost, love shall not: and death shall have no dominion."-- Dylan Thomas wrote that; our singers have always been needed to remind us.
