On April 8, the International Astronomical Union announced that a small irregular moon was found by University of Hawaii astronomers Scott Sheppard and David Jewitt along with Jan Kleyna of Cambridge University. The trio first spotted the satellite on February 5 with the 8.3-meter Subaru Telescope atop Mauna Kea.

The new moon designated S/2003 S1, is estimated to be about 8 kilometers (5 miles) wide; it has a distant, retrograde orbit, making it Saturn's 14th known irregular satellite.

The total number of Satellites for Saturn is 31....
