Some 13 billion years ago in a distant cluster of stars, a planet
formed.
Remarkably it's still there, according to astronomers using the Hubble
Space Telescope. The confirmation of this ancient world means planets
formed very early in the history of our universe--only one or two
billion
years after the Big Bang itself. Orbiting a pair of burned-out stars
in
the crowded globular cluster "M4", the planet is too small to see from
Earth. Backyard sky watchers can, however, see the star cluster in
which
it lives.
