Leslie or kevin- I graduated from Naropa in 2002 and am currently looking at MA counseling programs with a humanistic/transpersonal approach- there are few and most in Cali. Im currently in Chicago( and wouldnt mind movin back out West), yet costs are huge. It seems that JFK university, CIIS and Institute of Trans Studies are the forerunners. What is interesting to me, is how a person can become a Licensed prof counselor or Marriage and Family Therapist through MA programs that have a huge diff in credits earned- For example, in Chicago I can get my MA in counseling in 40 credit or 60 credits for 16-20,000(these institutes also have work study and assistant positions which shaves off a couple thousand)- while JFK's MA is 91 credits! and 40,000 +. and then what? what kind of jobs are available? and will i be able to pay off my debt? perhaps it is a good idea to get an MA counseling in a more traditional school, have a lil science under the belt, and then, spend a bit more on the PHD- i know a guy who went to naropa to finish his BA and get an MA and went 90,000 in debt.- hoo lord! its been months since you wrote- where you at in the process now?
