Can Sri Aurobindo be called a pioneer of transpersonal psychology according to the definition given of t.p. on the website?
The definition states that t.p. "is not metaphysics" and does "not imply a metaphysical belief in a spiritual, divine, or transcendent realm."
For Sri Aurobindo, the central point of importance to his yoga is the fact that it is the Divine which has become this world-manifestation and that is gradually emerging through this - final aim: a divine universe. Also, philosophy (metaphysics) is important in his view because of the clarity it gives the intellect, and that can prove to be very important in an endeavour as complex and critical as development beyond the limits of our present psychological and spiritual state.
