Transpersonal psychology has close links with personality theory, social psychology, developmental psychology, consciousness studies, humanistic psychology, counselling and psychotherapy.

The main areas of practical application are in therapy (there are specific transpersonal approaches such as psychosynthesis), personal development, leadership and management training.
