Subject: THE "NASH"

I was amazed to find this site today..... maybe because I never looked before....... but I just have to say, "You can take a boy out of the 'Nash', but you can't take the boy out of the Nash."

I was there '61-'62....( slight re-call '63), and reading the posts and Ginger Sollars' story, I realise that most 'Nash Boys' have a lot in common, despite in what era they were there.

I was in Anson Division of T.S.Formidable and remember some of the posters and some of those mentioned:

Bestie, Cleghorn, Farrel, Christian, Hibbert, Jock McLachlan............I actually went to sea on my 1st ship, The 'Birmingham City' with Hunt, who was remembered by Hibbert.........

I was in the Band; started as a Bugler (Crap - Captain Campbell sent me down the woods to practice), but only because I wanted to be a Drummer and I still drum to this day...............play a bit of guitar, too!

I was always friendly with Miss Fleur Moore, too. Anyone remember her? She was our Art Teacher and I have continued in the 'Art' field as well.

I learned a lot from 'Commie john','Johnno' and 'Heff' in the Seamanship classes and a lot of what they taught me became very useful after I left the sea and became a Scaffolder......still do it, still fit, still apply a lot of 'Nash' principles.

I will try and make the next re-union and if I can find them , I'll post some photos......I think there are some in my Mother's house.
