Donald,
This is one of the numerous posts made under ROTW on the Reachout board on the subject of the 144,000 being symbolic. If this is indeed you, it does seem that you had a totally different view on the 144,000 issue. I know you said that some posts made under this name were not made by you, but as far as I can see, the vast majority were from you. Anyway, I suppose it is best to ask if this post was made by you or not:

Gordon,
You have understood me correctly. I do not believe that the 144 000 is a literal number
for the following reasons 1) Numbers are almost always symbolic in Revelation 2) The fact
is that if the 12 000 from each of the tribes is symbollic, then so must the 144 000 - 12
times a symbollic 12 000 surely equals a symbollic 144 000, not a literal 144 000 3) Paul
in Galatians, quoting Isaiah, tells us that those in the new covenant will be more numerous
than the Jews. This means that in the first century there were certainly more than 144 000
annointed Christians. Although the answer in the Watchtower to this particular point is at
least possible when they say that Jesus was the only true son of the old covenant, being
the only one who observed it perfectly. 4) The accounts in Acts and history strongly suggests
that there were far more than 144 000 Christians in the first century.
However, the Bible does indicate that there are a set number of annointed in places such as
Romans 11:26 which talks about "until the full number of the Gentiles has come in." Besides
which is the clear indications that some will live in heaven and others as their subject
on earth. So I believe that there is a limited number of annointed, but that the number
is in excess of 144 000.
