I don't think they would be unless it was a christian school because of seperation of church and state. However, with bush trying to ban gay marriages he is clearly violating seperation of church and state in my opinion. No though groups like youth for christ as far as i know would not be permitted in public schools. Ocassionally kids will get together and do prayer at the flag pole and i forget the name of it but they do allow kids to discuss christian topics during lunch time in a classroomn set aside for it but that is only allowed because a teacher is not leading it.
