Hi everyone!
I'm hoping you can all help me. The Dogo Argentino Club of America is getting a lot of requests for help from people living in Canada that own Dogo Argentinos because of the new BSL that Ontario just passed.

The problem a lot of people are having is that they own Dogos but got their Dogos through rescues or never received their registration papers from the breeders they purchased their Dogos from. These people are now feeling the pit bull laws first hand because they do not have any papers to prove their dogs are not pit bulls.

As a dog club we want to help these people but obviously at a loss as to what we can do for dogs without registration papers.

First - I'm hoping those of you that understand the new laws will be able to provide some ideas of what these people can do or what we as a dog club can do to help these people. What kind of documents will the Canadian authorities accept as proof of a dogs breed?? Something - anything?

Second - where and who can these poeple write about their situation? These people will be able to give first hand accounts of how this law affects their dogs that aren't supposed to be affected by this law.

Third - I remember hearing of a group that was raising funds for an attorney to fight this new law. Does anyone have any information on this?

Any information you can provide would be greatly appreciated. My e-mail address is dogomom@ameritech.net. Also, if you are actively working on fight the Ontario BSL and would prefer to have these people to contact you directly, please send me your e-mail address and I can forward it on.

Thanks in advance.

Amy Burnard
