Nomes's Lair
You enter a large open tunnel and follow it. The light dims and disappears as you go farther and farther. Knowing the length of Crystal Isle, you are nervous and wonder where you are. You must have walked into the ocean by now. But the tunnel is dry. It slopes slightly now. You trip at the sudden downward plunge but quickly regain your footing. You walk on, watching your feet. You suddenly trip again as the tunnel levels. You lift up and continue yet again on your exploration of the tunnel. It is completely dark now and you sometimes shout out as you bump into walls you didn't know were there as the tunnel turns. Just when you thought to turn back and give up, you see a light. You start running to it, tripping over rocks as the ground becomes much rougher. The light moves, it seems, and you are now climbing up fr the tunnel becomes very steep, pointing to what you think is the skyward direction. You trip and start to fall. Before you can though, a blue dragon grabs your hand.He pulls you up and leeds you to the light. It becomes a large cave filled with shining gold and silver. Swords and jewelry adorn the walls. The light seems to come from this wealth. But you look up and see a thousand floating candles around the high cieling, held there only by dragon-magic. Welcome. I am Nomes, the blue dragon says. This is my lair, off the Crystal Isle. We are on an unexposed island, covered by water. The tunnel that you went along was under the sea floor. I keep myself and my wealth here, which I acquire as gifts and ransoms. Sometimes I just take what I need but only from the kind other than dragons. I warn you not to take any of this loot. If you do, you will not be able to leave for I have the strongest of magic protecting anything that enters here. Only I can take from this lair unlesss I give the other permission to take. I warned you and I warn you again. Theives do not go unnoticed. G'day friend. He flaps his great wings and flies onto a ledge above to watch his hoard and protect it.
