Subject: BTW I noticed that the food in Germany tastes much better because they still have all their local farms and the whole country follows what we call organic practices. IMHO It's a fine example of traditions winning out over "innovations."
In reply to: Lissa 's message, "I have also decided to go organic/vegetarian as much as possible for all the reasons that Linda and Brenda say. When I do buy meat, it is the free range kind. Just get ahold of the book, "Fast Food Nation" to get a peek into what our food goes thru before reaching us. Besides not supporting cruelty of animals, I like knowing that my chickens have been given vitamins and fresh air to keep them healthy rather than given drugs in case they get some terrible diseases from their horrible living conditions. It's more expensive but I figure so is medical treatment for health issues caused by questionable food sources. Everything TASTES better organic, too. We feel more satisfied, so we eat less. But I agree with Jeannine, vegetarian meals need more preparation. Good thing my family likes all kinds of ethnic foods. *G*" on 08:34:50 07/27/03 Sun
