Subject: Yes of course our easier life circumstances have a lot to do with the life span, although media nowadays makes us believe it is all about what we eat.*lol* Itīs a shame though how industrial modern food is. Meat aside, why the heck do they add all that sh$& to the food??? I just read on a package of "natural herbal" pills 5 types of chemical colors and sacharin (sugar substitute stuff) which is suspected to cause cancer. What does that have to do in a "natural" product? I just donīt get it. That makes me angry.
In reply to: Linda in sw va 's message, "Hi Martina! That's a very good point about variety, I think whether you're a meat eater or a vegatrian variety in the diet is important to good health. Also, about the life-span of people, lucky for us it is getting longer! lol I think that is due to many things - our lfie is not as harsh and importantly - we have better medical care available to us now. As well as a better variety of foods. Plus we have more info on nutricion and brushing teeth and so forth! I've read articles on how keeping your teeth healthy actually effects your whole body in a much larger way than people realize. The hormones and additives in feed, farming etc. is a new thing in the past century or so. Factory Farming as well because mass production has become a way of life for most modern markets. That's also a very good point to listen to what you're body tells you, just like we all find our own path spiritually I think it's important to listen to our bodies in other ways as well. :)" on 13:34:15 07/28/03 Mon

[> [> [> [> You know I just attended a seminar about this very topic the other day at my local health food store! They said a product only has to have so much (and it can be quite little) of a natrual ingredient to put the term 'natural' on their product label. It's very misleading! I'm always checking labels now. I don't know why they have to do it but I suspect a lot of it has to do with cutting costs. -- swvaLinda, 09:22:43 07/30/03 Wed

[> [> [> [> [> Probably. I was just wondering why they need to put artificial color to a herbal based pill for better sleep which turns out to be almost black anyway, and sugar substitute to something you swallow!*lol* It just makes no sense adding this stuff. What for??? It would save costs NOT to add anything. It is the same here, by the way, I always read what is in a product as well. -- Martina, 13:25:08 07/30/03 Wed
