Subject: Thanks Martina, that's very interesting, I didn't know exactly what they were. I remember reading articles on it years ago and think of it now and then when I get concerned that Jason (my little boy) might be eating too much of it. This is the first I've seen of nitrate free bacon though, we live in the country here too.
In reply to: Martina 's message, "Thanks Linda, I informed myself about the nitrate and found out that it is a salt indeed, but not one that they add.*lol* It is in the meat because the animals eat the grass of overly manured fields. So that special bacon must be from animals that have been fed with nitrate free food. That is cool. I havenīt seen it here so far, because we live in the country and the manure on the fields is a huge problem. There simply is no land you could grow anything nitrate free on. Only our water is free of it, because the european water law is the worlds most strict one. They have to filter it out. Because of those strong controls our tab water is healthier than any bottled water we could buy." on 03:38:41 07/30/03 Wed
