She was the most important person in the world to me. I loved her with all my heart and we had a great relationship. When she died, I didn't cry much, because I had seen her suffer so much through her cancer illness and was honestly relieved that it was over for her. When I got into my 20's, I started to cry a lot because I missed her so much and felt that I needed to search for truth for myself. I felt that my Catholic religion had failed me. I wasn't sure if I believed in God anymore, but I wanted to believe in God and I always prayed to find truth for myself. Well the first book that I read was a book about near death experiences. That was back in 1980, I was just finishing up college then.

Three years later I read a book by Shirley Mclaine (a famous actress)that was all about her spiritual path. That started things rolling. I read every Jane Roberts book and every book by Carlos Castaneda (about South American Shamanism) and Robert Monroe (who wrote about all his out of body experiences). I have had a few interesting experiences myself. One is that I became wide awake in a dream. In my dream I was telling myself to remember how real this is when I wake up. I also think that I had two out of body experiences, that was when I was practicing to try to do them. After 20 years of reading and speaking to people and going to see a psychic or two, for me, I trully believe that there is life after death. I guess for me, I did need to have evidence. I believed so blindly and faithfully as a child and young woman and that was all shattered for me when my mother became sick and died. Whew! That was a long one.

[> [> I am sorry for your loss. It must have been very hard in that age. Books have been very helpful to find my path as well. I have read almost the same ones you did! I love Shirley, and Neale Walsh, and there was also Shakti Gawain and many more. Interesting how they all carry the same message in different words. Each one was an eye-opener on another level. I think we all need to find our personal "key-sentences" to make it sink in. -- Martina, 03:50:34 06/06/03 Fri
