The High Priestess

Hidden Power

Seeing the potential

** opening to what could be
** seeing your hidden talents
** allowing development

Sensing the mystery
** looking beyond the obvious
** opening to the unknown
** sensing the secret and hidden
** seeking what is concealed
** acknowledging the Shadow

The High Priestess is the guardian of the unconscious. She sits in front of the thin veil of unawareness which is all that separates us from our inner landscape. She contains within herself the secrets of these realms and offers us the silent invitation, "Be still and know that I am the Doorway to the Mysteries." She is the unknown that represents woman's role as the crucible of life.

The High Priestess may represent an actual woman in Andrew�s future who is past middle age and is intuitive and eager to share her gifts of insight with him, so that he may be able to discover the rich potential within that he has barely mined in the latter half of this past season. Or, it may be that this card poses a challenge to Andrew to go deeper - to look beyond the obvious, surface situation to what is hidden and obscured. The High Priestess, in either case, will ask Andrew to recall the vast and unlimited possibilities he holds within himself. And to use them in service of the healing of the group and humanity....

ANDREW: So, how come you're here? I mean, you could just go, right?
ANYA: Yeah. I did before.
ANDREW: Before what?
ANYA: There was this other apocalypse this one time. And I took off. But this time...
ANDREW: What's different?
ANYA: Well, I was kinda new to being around humans before. And now I've seen a lot more, gotten to know people, seen what they're capable of and I realize now that they're just so... amazingly... screwed up! I mean, so really, really screwed up in a monumental fashion!
ANDREW: Oh.
ANYA: They have no purpose that unites them so they drift around, blundering through life until they die. Which they know is coming and yet every single one of them is surprised when it happens to them. They're incapable of thinking beyond what they want at that moment. They kill each other, which is clearly insane, but here's the thing. When it's something real, they fight. I mean, they're lame morons to keep fighting. But they do. They... They never quit. And so I guess I'll fight too.
ANDREW: That was kinda beautiful. You love humans.
ANYA: No I don't.
ANDREW: Yes, you do. You luuuuve them.
ANYA: Stop it. I don't love them and I'll kill you if you tell anybody.

Just as Andrew helped Anya reclaim her humanity, so he can help people through his inner wisdom and intuition.

For the Wood: The Seven of Pentacles [assessment, reward, direction change]

Robin Wood has worked hard and will meet with a measure of success. This may be in regards to learning the truth about his mother�s killer, which nourishes his quest for fighting evil. It may also mean with regards to his eventual alliance with Buffy to overcome the First. He will consider a step up the ladder and may be offered a �promotion� of sorts. [to a Watcher-like role?]
