El makes a sideways gesture with her head, telling the mare to get away from the falls so that they could talk. She jumps through the curtain of water into the dark pool. Foam rides on the waves in her wake. She must only swim for a moment, because soon she feels sand give way beneath her gold hooves. The fine grains create a yellow cloud in the dark water as her powerful legs stir the bottom. El pauses now, for the water is only ankle deep. Her dripping black coat is shaken free of the tiny droplets, spraying them in every direction. The mist creates a beautiful rainbow effect. El turns her sapphire blue eyes back on the stranger.
