Mahder moved to the front quickly from his third row starting spot to dominate on opening night. Goodremote and Kurshinsky shared the front row and battled side by side on the opening lap before the lone yellow waved for a Morgan spin. On the restart, Kurshinsky again pulled up beside Goodremote as Mahder made a low dive on Wrazidlo to close on the leaders. Mahder was again quick off the low side in turn one and he ducked inside Goodremote while Kurshinsky pulled outside him as the leaders went three wide into turn three. Mahder came out of the corner first to take a lead he wouldn't give up. Mahder pulled away as Kurshinsky took second and Goodremote faded. Brust drove into third as Mahder's biggest challenge was getting through traffic. He got hung up slightly but so did Kurshinsky who almost gave up second before he got free. Heat winners were Goodremote and Mahder. Other winners tonight were Jason Miller-modified; Rick Ellis-super stock; Scott Clark-street stock and Jerry Wojcik-pure stock.
