I do the Rotella but I also use 1 qt of "F" transmission oil and 2 qts and 22 oz of the Rotella PER Carl Leo. Works great and runs much, much better as I suspect the "F" trans fluid is a cleaner. (The "F" stands for Ford.) I've been changing out the oil every 4,000, as when I did every 3,000 it still looked like new, so I'm streaching it out. The cost is so reasonable I think 5,000 is the limit. Anyway, checking the level can be done easily with a mechanics telescoping mirror (Sears and auto parts stores @$6.00 or so) and sitting on the seat. Both tires on the level ground, bike level, not on the centerstand. Sadly, the shift linkage bar cuts right across the sight glass in the middle so it may be a moment for you to adjust what you see, which is the level as written above, is right on, given the 3 qts +the 22 oz fill. And again, as written above, you'll see its always on the mark and you won't ever have to crawl around looking or even use the mirror. Just don't forget those 2 drain plugs mentioned earlier plus the filter plug! And notice that the two drain plugs tighten to 22 ft lbs, while the filter plug tightens to 14.5 ft lbs. ....Davej!
