Joe, if the engine runs at all (even just a little). Get some fresh fuel in it and add a double dose of Seafoam and run it. Get it started and let it idle for an hour or so. Then let it set over night and fire it up again the next day. Seafoam will clean out decades of neglect and build up without having to yank the carbs. IF they need to come out you should be able to get them out without breaking the frame, I'm certain.
